I'm not saying Gyllenhaal is God's Gift or anything, but she's a pretty attractive person. She obviously takes care of her body, and though she has a unique appearance that I could see not everybody being attracted to, it's pretty harsh to call her ugly.

Take a look around next time you go to a freaking Wal-Mart, and I'll show you a slew of 'average' looking people. You could probably spot a few who you might consider more attractive, but I bet you'll see a lot more who are far less.

Might as well save the term ugly for the people who really deserve it.
