So today was our move myself my girlfriend of 10 years and her brother and our female pit and cat.
After about a 5 hour drive from So/Cal we get here, im backing the uhaul truck in the driveway i open the door and stick my head out so i can see better and my damn cat jumped out of the truck. My girlfriend tried to get her but she took off jumped fence into our backyard, she goes in the back and the cat scales an 8ft wall up and over then runs down the street and disappears, we go out calling here and shake her kitty treats like once per half hour. After 5 or so hours i go looking in the car (gf already drove within the first half hour). I drive around for 15 minutes or so chasing an obvious needle in a haystack and there she was on the side of the road laying in a shade just big enough to cover her along a brick wall on the street behind our house. She was panting badly. I rushed home put her in the sink and proceeded to poor some faucet water on her and tried to get her to drink but she didnt want to so i kept splashing water in her face and nose forcing her to lick it off. After about 15 minutes or so her panting decreased and eventually stopped and she started drinking.
Im just glad i found her shes like a child to us shes about 10 or 11 yrs old and was probably only an hour or so away from death had we not found her.
On a good note the move went smoothly except not being able to get gas turned on til monday which means cold showers and no stove until then. And also a bonus we have a kickass park at the front of our community that has lit up tennis courts, softball field, bball courts and its open til midnight.
Its 10:30 and were about to go to a casino to get some grub and kick back and have a beer or two. Im glad day one is over. Now unpacking all those damn boxes over the next week. Im really looking forward to it.
Good to hear the move went smooth and I'm glad you found your cat. Moving is hard enough, if you'd lost her it would have been horrible.

I'm glad your cat is okay. Keep a good eye on her for the next few weeks because you know she'll be freaked out by the move for a while and may have another crazy "stress reaction".

If it makes you feel any better hearing my bad news, Bingo Betty just knocked me out on the bubble. 1st to act after the BB, i went nearly all-in on AK.
Betty went all in with 79u, BB went all in also with A6.
rag rag rag, turn and river was a stanking 7 and 6. I got fried on both the main and side pot.
I could tolerate losing to BB since he went with an Ace. Betty can go screw himself. And from what i see on the WSOP results, "Bettys" like him are becoming more and more the norm rather then the exception.
Why would you be upset with people making bad plays? BTW I think the big blinds play is far worse than the 79's play unless the BB was about to be blinded out in the next round or 2.

Assuming you're short - of course you should push there. But you should be happy when people make bad plays. You'll win that most of the time which is all you can ask for you.

I wish you could sit over my shoulder for a tournament and tell me where i screwed up. I don't think i am, i think its just bad beats for me while Bingo Bettys are "playing bad, winning good". Supposedly bad beats are supposed to even out. Aint workin for me at all. I estimate I'm at 8:1 ratio of getting bad beaten vs recieving a grease out.
Glad the cat's okay. We had a similar scare with our cat during the Rita evac. Didn't escape but was doing the panting, drooling, and all the jazz while trapped in hot, cramped car. Not a lot of fun.
ak there is a good push, im just assuming your were short or fairly short stacked but you want action with ak as that is a good last hurrah hand. if you were short stacked bettys call is not so horrible, or if she had a ton of chips shes thinking she has two very live cards although they werent suited i would have folded them rags in her position if the above was the case. some people with stack will call a shorties all in with any two cards i mean any, ive seen 72 call my all in push when i was short by a huge stack.
Don't get so caught up in the results of one tourney, why were you so short stacked? If you find yourself being shortstacked just out of the money often, you need to open up a bit to ac ulate chips, try stealing some more blinds until they push back, then steal again when you have a hand and you will catch someone for a lot of chips if they are the defensive stubborn type.
Day 2 of the move has also not gone well, i had arranged to pick up a fridge which was prebought for me by the owner of this house, i called the guy last night told him ill be there at 9am this morning, he said please make sure you come cuz we're moving tomorrow but well be home all day. i get there, driveway is empty, phone goes straight to voicemail, i pound on the door like every 5 mins or so, er was a noshow, so i drove almost 40 miles roundtrip in the uhaul (gas guzzzler) and went over on my mileage when i returned it and right now im without a fridge.
Buy the way i wasnt exaggerating about the cat it was 104 here yesterday and she was without water for 6 hours. She would have had a heat stroke sooner or later, my guess would have been sooner with the condition she was in when i picked her up. She is back to normal today though.

Exact scenario was:
7 players at table.
Chip leaders with prolly about 15-20K.
Me with 8K chips, which was about 4th place on stacks.
Betty with 4K
BB with 5K (meaning 2K in the blind + 3K behind him)
sB ante was 1K, BB was 2K, had about 5 minutes until blinds get raised to 2/4K.
I was 1st to act with AK. I simply met the 2K blind, knowing full well the Bingo Betty well might go in, and i wanted him to. Manny, Heath, are you good with that so far?
fold, fold, fold, then Bingo Betty indeed raised all in with his remaining 4K. (Now since he was downline about 5 seats, why in the heck would he not look at a few more hands to go all in on a last hurrah with? He was reckless all night, I'd taken two good pots from him earlier that's why i had no fear of his all in and in fact wanted him in thus i only matched the blind at 2K, otherwise if i raised i think he folds.) small blind now folded. Over to BB. He paused for quite a while, then put in 2K more to match Betty. Action to me, I went 3K more, which caused the BBlind to put in his last chip.
So, we got:
Me with 5K in the pot, 3K behind me on AKu.
Betty with 4K all in on 79u.
BBlind with 5K all in on an A6u.
rag J rag, 6,7.
So not only did Betty get me on the main pot with 7s, BBlind got me on the side with the river 6.

Should i have waited there since i had 8K total and the blinds were "only" 1/2K? I think you all will agree, no, that point in time with AK was as good a time as any to jam all in. I win there and its +9K additional chips, givng me 17K total and virtually a lock to finish in the money. I did think i was more of a percentage favorite on the hand, like 80%. The site i go to says the 79u had a 35% chance to greasefry my AK. Is this accurate? This is the site I've been using.

Only hand i can think of I *misplayed* was Q9u.
Bingo Betty and Old Senile All in-every-other-hand-Guy both went all in. Would have cost me 3.5K of my 5.5 stack. I thought no way with Q9 am i seriously damaging my stack so folded. Flop was 8 10 J.
So i would have flopped a straight and cleaned up.
Betty and Old All In neither had an outstanding hand, but at this point i did not know how crazed they were. Old guy had just started his every other hand All in crap about two hand previous and no one called so I didnt know if he was bluffing or had two good draws in a row.
I will say on final table, a few hands before my AK fry, i did have Q10u and was about 5th position. I folded. Turns out i would have gotten both sb and BBlind, but so many at these small tourneys play Ace-anything at the final table so i didnt want to risk Acefry.

volume of tourneys will even everything out. you will have good runs and bad, i have had streaks of cashing in 11 of 13 single table sit n goes, then not cashing for 6 in a row.
poker is like that,
how many games can you play at once, if you can get up to 3 or 4 your volume should even you out. you should never be down about a handful of bad beats. if the donkeys didnt occasionaly suck out they would never refill their online accounts theyd be gone and all you would be up against are ranked pros.

100 dollars an hour but I don't coach tourneys, just cash games.
I've lost several 19:1 hands where i've been the favorite in a ROW. I can't tell you how low the probability of that happening is but its really ing low. I've played 50k stretches where I've been 30 buy ins under expectation which is also pretty insane. Its poker, you go through long and huge stretches where you lose when you should win. Being a favorite doesn't mean you won't lose, it means that over the long run in those situations you will win more than you lose.
You overcome the bad players by making better decisions and by getting your money in good. If they play badly they will lose their money. It's only a matter of time. This is really fundamental stuff. Math is a constant and people who constantly get it in as a dog or call bets with hands that are beat will lose money.
manny what do you charge to coach? i really want to learn more about cash games, i am very volatile. Here is what usually happens after grinding out my initial deposit in sit n goes and building a decent bank roll i go sit in a $1 $2 cash game, play for several hours, the first 3 or 4 hours i seem to clean house just about every time, i pay very patient but agressive poker, lots of steals resteals, however there comes a time every time when i play for too long maybe im a little tired or get into a pissing contest with someone and get too involved in hands that i know i probably shouldnt have.
This is a pattern ive established seems to happen just about every time. I do great in sit n goes, grinding it out, go to cash games I usually go up very quickly then boom after a few hours I go broke. I have yet to dwindle down a deposit from purely sit n goes, i always go upward then often lose it in a cash game.
If you're going to play small stakes cash in Vegas live then you should get a live coach. I know there are several who are well recommended on 2p2 and they will probably charge you about 100 an hour.
I do online coaching for about half that rate but I won't coach anything above 100NL. I do coaching through team viewer and skype as well as a post session write up with notes on hands and what I think you need to work on etc etc.
