Actually I think that statement by McCain hurts him more politically than does the Obama statement. Both candidates are seeking to separate themselves from Bush but this statement by McCain smacks of more of the same support for Bush policies. Obama on the other hand dodged the question with a politically correct answer and just said please stop fighting.
You have to know that Obama is a very astute politician. He doesn't say anything unless there is a purpose to it. He will shift with the wind and co-opt the Republican positions. He's already flip flopped on withdrawing the troops immediately and is shifting to the middle ground in drawing Christian right voters to him by making stump speeches at Rick Warren's Saddleback Church.
McCain is all about attack ads at the moment and support of the Iraq and Afghanistan policies. Is McCain a Neocon too? He's supposed to be a moderate but I'm not so sure.

No, I'm quite sure I didn't. You seem to think it absurd for a candidate to be vacationing during this event; I'm not missing the point by noting that the man who was actually elected to handle situations like this one might as well have been boogey boarding in Hawaii. If its somehow inexcusable for a candidate with no power to be vacationing, how is it excusable for the man who holds power to be checking out the asses of young lasses on a fake beach in China?
I like that Bush was now checking out their asses. And Im not trying to defend Bush, but he did make a much bolder statement than Obama.

To say that its okay for Obama to release some ridiculous statement, meet with reporters and make another ridiculous statement and then blame it on him being on vacation is just absurd.

We'd have to start policing the world in the first pace in order to continue policing it. America policies American interests and nothing more. There is no moral right or wrong high ground that American stands on.
that was exactly my point in the other thread. It doesnt' matter if USA is least violent superpower. they will do whatever it takes to protect their interests. That is the definition of empire, no matter if it's a democracy, communism, etc.
