He's a shooting guard that can't shoot on a team that loves to surround its stars with role players that are great spot up shooters. Plus, the Spurs are trying to get younger. Athletic as Mason is, he doesn't help in that area in terms of being a young kid to help for more than one year.

Joe P. was a huge disappointment last year and Desmond Mason is a bit player with an absolutely piss poor 0.263 career three point shot.

But the Spurs did try to get Joel a year or to ago, and he opted to stay with Portland? I would still hate to lose Bowen.

Bowen has lost a step but he's one of Pop's favorites and he's still one of the elite wing defenders in the league. No way is he getting traded...yet.

As far as the roster goes, what you see now is what you get for '09 IMHO.

Not at all. Its better to trade Bowen a year early than a year late. The spurs need to start thinking about getting a real sf that can play on both ends of the floor.
