    SOTN Prolouge stage:

IMHO Castlevania Symphony of the Night's Soundtrack blows away a lot of video game's music and I think it has one of the best rated it not the best soundtrack ever.

For the best music overall in a game, Castlevania II: Simon's Quest takes the cake:

    Daytime fighting song (Bloody Tears)

    Nightime Fighting Song (Monster Dance)

    Dungeon Song (Dwelling of Doom)

Town Song (The Silence of Daytime)

That game is hard. I mean the way you try to kill people at first is a little tricky. Didn't know his cane was a pogo stick.

I'm always amazed esp. at the Castlevania series, at how the developers were able to get such great, atmospheric music out of the NES.

As for more modern fare that hasn't been mentioned, Singletrac's early Playstation games had some good stuff.

The main theme from Twisted Metal:

Twisted Metal 2's was even better all the way around, but the heavy metal rendition of Frere Jacque is the one that always stuck with me:

And Warhawk's stuff was pretty good too:
