Even if he doesn't I'm pretty sure he's under a very close scrutiny. I doubt he could be taking anything that wouldn't trigger all sorts of alarm bells.
Of course there's still a small possibility he's really an alien, I mean it's more plausible than the fact that he might be so much better than anybody else...

He's not just winning. He's smashing the compe ion and world records along the way. It would take an injury or illness to stop him from getting 8 at this point.

That's not even remotely close. The guys Phelps is swimming against are faster, on the whole, than the swimmers who were winning medals in Athens. He's not whipping up on a bunch of poor swimmers or compe ors, as you're suggesting. Don't diminish his accomplishment by misstating the quality of his compe ion.
