Why would you kill it?
Finally. I have been aiming for this sucker all week and he finally was close enough to the ground where my 30/6 specked him enough to bring him down. I am going to get him mounted, I'll post pics when that's done.
edit* Okay. Exposed. But I did get... a few, and one important one.

Why would you kill it?
I dunno, cause it's cool looking. I'm going for the other one today and tomorrow.

The bald eagle is protected under CITES, Appendix II*, the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act and Migratory Bird Treaty Act. In some states, bald eagles are also protected by state endangered species laws.

Protection for the bald eagle came slowly. Not until 1940, when the Bald Eagle Act was signed, was the killing of bald eagles in the lower 48 states prohibited. In Alaska, a bounty was in effect from 1917 to 1945 and again from 1949 to 1953. More than 100,000 eagles were killed, each pair of feet bringing from 50 cents to $2. Finally, in 1953, the Territorial Bald Eagle Bounty Law was repealed in Alaska, making the indiscriminate killing of bald eagles illegal.
In the early 1970s, the use of several organochlorine pesticides, including DDT, was banned in the United States. The Endangered Species Act of 1973 created additional framework for future protection of the bald eagle and its habitat and provided for fines of $10,000 to $20,000 and/or imprisonment of one to two years for the killing or sale of bald eagles. The bald eagle was listed as endangered under the Nebraska Nongame and Endangered Species Conservation Act concurrent with its listing under the Federal Act in 1978.
Beer can chicken mmmm
They'll never know.
And? Get over yourself. When one dies another is born somewhere.
Someone might if he goes somewhere to have it mounted.
This is a level right?
My uncle owns a taxidermy. You really think I'd mount it somewhere that would get me in trouble?
I'm not stupid.
If enough survive to reproduce. You want to run the risk with a beautiful symbol of our nation?
Is nothing sacred anymore?
Who shoots a bald eagle or a whooping crane with a 30/06 rifle?
You should have had a shotgun for that job.
Calm down people, it's not like he completely wiped the population. Just one.
I never thought or implied you are stupid.
You are obviously an excellent hunter. I just wish you would shoot at something else, if you must shoot at all.
no way this is true.
Dude???
A shotgun would have splattered it. I want to MOUNT it. Not see my kill go into 6 pieces all 30 yards apart.
If it makes you feel any better I used a Remington. No go away unless you have something good to say..
Damn, that's messed up. Is shooting and killing a bald eagle unpatriotic?
I predict a three page thread.
You know this thing is at least going 6.
The view to post ratio for this thread is highly above average.
My boyfriend helped you????

How would it be unpatriotic? There's lots of that goes on in this country as it is.
Besides our own government and the they do is unpatriotic. I don't need any here complaining about a dead eagle. And if that becomes the case, I'll be sure to post the next one I take down too.
Yeah that's what they said about dodo birds.
Nah. Even if he offered I'd show him the door. I don't need some googly eyed boy in love going off in some rant about how he loves some girl while holding a ing gun.
I gotta say, whether it's just trolling or actually for real, Brutalis plays the "Dumb Ignorant Arky" role to perfection.
