Im gonna say Romney. Very well spoken, pretty slick, very popular amongst conservatives and very very well accomplished business man who understands the economy very well.

Oh I hope he picks Romney, just to see if my parents will still vote McCain's way.
The trouble with Romney is he would further alienate the Fundy wing of the GOP that votes Republican in straight-ticket numbers......you wanna see the GOP get really walloped in the House and Senate races? Neither do they....
He couldn't get elected with an in bent vice president, what makes anyone think he would help McCain?
Lieberman was in Georgia about the same time as Biden....... , I wouldn't be surprised if it was Jeb Bush....
It's surprising he feigned mortality and selected a running mate.
Man I don't envy McCain's position at this point. Obama probably picked the strongest VP candidate in the field and I don't see a way that McCain can match it with a relatively weak group of potential running mates.
Guys like Pawlenty and Jindal would certainly be fresh, but I don't think they're well enough known on the national stage. Virtually no one has talked about Huckabee since he dropped out and some of his more bold ideas would surely draw criticism in the general election campaign....though I admittedly like his genuine approach.
I guess the guy to go with is Romney....bleh. I specifically targeted Romney in the primary campaign as someone I would NOT vote for. He lacked the genuine appeal and didn't really have a substantive talking point....except to say that he made money and to criticize everyone else.
It'll probably be Romney, but I didn't vote for him out of principle...I went with Huckabee.

Really smart businessman whos very successfull, would be pretty darn good at managing an economy.
It would be an even more historic election if he was the guy.
An african american for president, a mormon for vice president on the other side.
In the primary season he talked more about being successful in the economy than actually laying out a plan to turn the economy around. Besides, a vice president (or president for that matter) actually has very little control of the state of the economy.
At most, he would give the appearance that he shores up a noted weakness of McCain.

Actually I think McCain is a delegator and he would delegate the economy part to Romney. Honestly he can't wrong either way, hes got great guys in both Huckabee and Romney.
I read an AP story where it was suggested McCain might have been considering David Petraeus, but I've read where Petraeus has said before he has no political ambitions. Plus, with him being confirmed to CentCom, it's probably unlikely.
Petraeus would make no sense at all.
Hes gotta get someone thats great at economics and someone with a conservative record to unite all the republicans and what not.

I would say Romney with Pawlenty right behind. Both will have their hands full with Biden in a debate.

I would love it if it was Fred Thompson, but he would be too polarizing and is too conservative for McCain.

Biden brings absolutely NOTHING to the Obama camp. At least if McCain picks Romney, he'll probably secure the entire southwest due to the Mormon vote.
I would actually like to see McCain pick Lieberman, though.
I wouldn't say he brings nothing. He was born in Pennsylvania (swing state), he's Catholic (swing vote), he's older (Obama dominates younger voters, but lags with older voters), he's a foreign policy expert (an alleged Obama weakness), he appeals to blue collar types (another weakness), has a son that's going to Iraq (personalizes the issue), he's charismatic and he's a damn good attack dog (who hasn't heard his attack on Giuliani).
