Let me start this by saying that in NO way am i comparing them in terms of current talent etc

This is really just a question about what Parker's game was like before he hit the NBA, and i figured some Spurs fans would have followed him before he hit the NBA.

So, what was his game like before the NBA? I know his midrange has improved alot since coming to the NBA. Before the NBA, did he mainly rely on his quickness to get to the rack?

Some of you may have seen Mills in the Olympics. He is superquick and can get to the rack at will, he has a bit of work to do on his outside jumper, his D is pretty decent for his size and he uses his quickness on both sides off the ball.

Any comparison in terms of the type of game they play?

When TP first came into the league he was very raw but you could see he was a step faster then everybody and that he had a real knack for getting into the guts (where he would almost always pass). He had a fealessness about him and acted like he belonged...From memory he became our starting pg about 2 weeks into the season as a 19yr old

Ive watched Mills play in a couple of int touraments now and see alot of TP in him...He has same type of lightning speed and quickness to beat anybody on the dribble and can get right into the teeth of the D whenever he feels like it. He doesnt seem to mind contact and has a real fearlessness about him..

The NBA game really suits his style of play as there is no zone and a high % of P&R plays. He should be a lottery pick and i can definetly see him as a starting nba pg

i think you should give up your Australian citizenship and go somewhere else to live.

I hate people who do nothing but about the sporting efforts of their country.

And of course you missed the point of the thread again, congrats.

Id recommend the ignore feature Nuggets. Ive learned that forums, for some are people are places where you goto in order to find information. And Ive also learned that forums, for some people are just ways of expressing graffiti. As for your question about TP and Mills. I dont know who Mills is, so i couldnt compare them.

As for not knowing who Mills is, its not suprising coz Aussie bballers aren't really well known unless it is around draft time and they are touted as top prospects (eg Bogut). I'm hoping that Mills will be our 3rd player in the NBA and our 2nd Indigenous Australian to play in the NBA

No problem, Ive been to warrnambool a couple of times. I do miss them timtams. I also to this day still play Two Up. It was given to me while I was there. Ive got some fishing buddies who are always trying to steal them gold coins. What are friends for.

Mills is a pretty good prospect. I'd compare him more to Speedy Claxton than Tony Parker due to his lack of size. Parker has at least four inches on him.

Right now, I'd say Mills played his way into a late first round selection. If he can follow up his Olympic play with a breakout sop re season at St. Mary's he could move into the upper teens. The two things he'll need to prove are that he's capable of being a full-time point guard and show better shot selection.

But yeah, Claxton of five or six years ago is a pretty decent comparison. Mills is probably quicker while Claxton was a better leaper.

Yeah Mills is pretty small, but If I remember clearly wasn't Tony Parker the same height(5'11) as Mills when he was drafted?

I'm pretty sure that all Parker really had going for him coming in was his quickness. I do believe Pop was quoted at one time saying, "This kid couldn't make a layup to save his life". Hard to believe with some of the magic Parker throws up night-in and night-out now.

All he had was fast feet, a funny looking jump shot, and a lot of toughness. He's managed to turn all of that around to become perhaps one of the top 5 point guards in the League.

And I'm pretty sure my first thread was a debate about whether Parker deserved that classification or not. Back then, he didn't. But sometimes, change is good.

Mills burned Chris Paul many, many times and in my book, that's enough for a good look during the draft.

His Olympic play certainly raised his stock, probably over-hyped right now but definitely an NBA prospect.

Whats awesome is Australian basketball has covered the C and PG spot with NBA caliber talent for the next 5 - 8 years. Thats the two hardest spots to fill right there and our future is exciting

One thing about Mills is he has showed he will take it to anybody and does not get scared. I say he has a better pro career then Claxton
