You guys are overlooking one major thing...

A hot woman trumps any racial and gender bias...always has.

You find me the biggest white supremacist in the world and I guarantee you if you stick him in a room with Halle Berry for the weekend he is going to overcome his racism at some point during that weekend.

Literally the weakest VP pick since Quayle. She could do something down the road, but wow. A bit of a reach there, eh? No experience, nothing to run on. Has 'rock ribbed' Republican values - is even a creationist. And clearly done as an electoral ploy to go after PUMAs and dissolve the attention from the Dem convention. Again the Republicans don't campaign to govern, they campaign to campaign. They win and then don't know what to do when they get there.

This'll get a bounce in interest, but she's really weak. Word is she hasn't even been vetted yet.
I'm pretty sure she was vetted... she's been talking in recent days like she was on the short list.

Pat Buchanan did say this was the riskiest move in political history, though, and I think I agree with him about that.

Palin, who was also the head of the school Fellowship of Christian Athletes, would lead the team in prayer before games

Palin kept her campaign promises by reducing her own salary, as well as reducing property taxes by 60%.[

Palin is strongly pro-life, a supporter of capital punishment (which is not a pro-life position),[28] and belongs to Feminists for Life.[9]
Uh.... I don't know about those last two, particularly the Feminists for Life part.

    Agreed.

Damn, I'm glad I'm working in news during this election.

It's funny how everyone thinks Obama got something from nominating Biden...he got nothing from that dude.

That dude doesn't even make a ripple in the Presidential Races, and he never has.
Polls, if they matter, went down slightly because he wasn't HRC, but that was expected. Biden will be a pretty strong Veep. He looks like Alexander the Great compared to what just blew in from Alaska.

Will you be writing articles about the candidates?

If so, I would enjoy reading your takes.

Switch democrats with republicans and you'd be talking about Barack there.

I agree with Pat but who knows how women will react and that is the Voters McCain is going after. He already has the conservatives in hand and now that Palin is kissing Hillary's ass and mentioning her 18 mil votes.

I think McCain is making efforts to get votes from the middle and from the other side of the aisle but I think he needs to be most concerned about the ones in this base.

Until I see proof that this will do anymore more than provide some shallow pandering to women voters (women voters who have a clue about women's rights aren't voting for mccain anyway) then I am of the opinion Romney was his better choice.
Romney would have been great to raise money... for the economy and he looks presidential.

Palin is 100% pro-life, Life-long NRA member, she hunts - she fishes - she has a glider plane she flies -- mother of 5 - full of character -- she was appoint to the ethics board by the Gov she defeated and resigned when she saw the lack of ethics. She is solid. Not to mention - you will never hear the "experience" attack from the lib s -- nor will you hear them attack her gender - or being a mother with a special needs child - how can someone from the left be that hypocritical -- they can't can they??????

She is conservative to the core !

best of all - you will not hear from Himary for President again.

The two eloped shortly after Palin graduated from college; when they learned they needed witnesses for the civil ceremony, they recruited two residents from the old-age home down the street
    That is awesome!

There's a quote floating about how she just sent them a few do ents, not the usual rigamarole. But that could have been smokescreen.

This is pretty risky, and slightly baffling. But McCain didn't have a lot of options.

(Word is, it wasn't his pick anyway.)

I think McCain just put a damper on Obama's rise, how ever slight, in the polls. Let the games begin.

It'll be interesting. The American electorate is flightly, batty, fruity, and more than a little stupid. They can get swayed by this stuff.

It's pretty bad. I like science and fossil records and alternative energy and progress and a healthy economy and don't want to live in a cave. You guys, you're welcome to if you want. But please don't screw up stem cell research and progress for the rest of us, mmmmkay?

Thats the million dollar question - isn't it? Which bias is the greatest one?
I guess people can feel like they've satisfied whatever diversity requirement their pointy heads came up with by choosing either the old conservative with a young female running mate or the liberal black guy with the funny name. That's progressive, right? Either way we get a "first time in American history" moment next January.

What I don't get is just how blatant an attempt this is to attract women voters to the GOP tent. It's not like the McCain camp was scared that Alaska's whopping three electoral votes would go blue for the first time since 1964.
