Let's see if I got this right. Palin is much beloved by the so called base of the GOP, the family values crowd.

Johnny Mac calls Palin in and says he is considering her as his VP candidate. Palin sits across from him knowing:

    1. Her husband has a DUI in the past.

    2. Her 17 year old unmarried daughter is pregnant.

    3. Her sister is embroiled in an ugly divorce in which abuse allegations have been made and has led to an abuse of power investigation by the Alaskan legislature.

    4. You have a four month old special needs infant.

Knowing the glare of media spotlight will impact your loved ones, your family and their embarassing situations will be spread worldwide in short order, she readily accepts McCain's offer when made.

What does this say about Palin's ambition being shoved ahead of the potential embarassing spotlight on her loved ones?

I wonder what the stay at home Mom's who are into home schooling think about this?

    1. So what? Obama hangs out with a known terrorist whose only regret is he didn't finish the whole Pentagon off.

    2. Engaged, nonissue. I guess she should just abort it, cuz' you know Obama says being pregnant young is a burden and he's want his daughters to abort the child.

    3. The abuse of power thing has been investigated already, even the lib investigator up in Alaska says she did nothing wrong.

I can't believe you touch on #4, but I guess that's liberals for you.

I wonder why you liberals are so damn scared of her. The smearfest of the last couple of days has been pretty pathetic. Know how I can tell the liberal elite is ting a brick over her selection? CNN's already calling for her to step down.

No liberal POS wants Palin on that ticket come election day, funny, wonder why that is.

BTW, there's a couple of moms at my work place that think she's a bad ass for raising a large family and still holding down the governorship of a large state, two were on the fence but already have decided to vote (R), another is so pissed about the liberal smear campaign she's actually going to vote and vote R, and two others are waiting to hear her speak.

So that's a small sample I know, but truthfully one I bet you and other liberal Obamessiahists are scared less about.

No my cowardly friend, I am not scared less of Palin being on the ticket as you are of serving your country.

    Obama/Biden will trounce them easily.

It is the family values folks from your side of the political spectrum that object to women working rather than staying at home raising the kids.

She has a baby with Downs Syndrome. There are people out there who would argue that she should be home caring for the child instead of as Whott seems to think secretly protecting us from the Russkies.

The investigation is not over by the way. That was not the point of that issue, it was the sister having her messy divorce splashed in headlines and news reports worldwide.

Well, given how enthusiastically most of the "family values" crowd has embraced her, one has to ask whether the people you describe actually exist in any appreciable numbers.

But pointing out the hypocrisy of non-existent caricatures could be a lot of fun. For example, isn't it hypocritical for a lot of the folks on your side of the aisle to keep supporting Obama after his patriotic DNC speech, since they hate America?

If Dems were not that concerned about the McCain ticket, they would have regarded Palin with dismissive bemusement rather than ferocious rage, so I call "false bravado" on Mr. Ocotillo.

Talk about non-existant caricatures. All the liberal women I know did, in fact, react with dismissive bemusement (rolled their eyes). How "Die Hard Hillary Supporter" of you make that blanket characterization.

Democrats hate America. That's what you got? That playbook is worn and dogeared and ain't working this go round.

My only concern about Palin is the expectations bar for her is going to be set so low that as long as she doesn't drool on herself, she is going to get good reviews for her debate performance.

She is from what I have read an intelligent person, she is just wrong on the issues and that needs to be shown to the voters so that the GOP cannot frame her as some sort of "Maverick" which is being used by the so called liberal media already. The change (that is mocked by Republicans) that people want is to break away from the failed conservative policies of the past 8 years.

She is a typical Republican. The three "Cs". Conservative, corrupt and cronyism.

Say "virtually eight years" next time. Apparently it covers anywhere from five to eleven years.

Never have seen a post of yours that indicated that you have the ability to think. Just
    regurgitate the leftwing crap.

The Dimms are the party of defeat and surrender and you have the gall to call someone a coward. Typical.

Palin is a great person and a great pick to be on the ticket for the
Republican party. And it is obvious all of you suckers are in a panic mode and have no idea what do to but attack someone, but this time you screwed up big time. You attacked her strong suite. Her being a true mother that stands by her Daughter instead of like was said above, hustling her off to some damn abortion clinic or whisking her away to some out of the way place. They faced up to the problem and are handling it as a family. Something you may not understand. May be above your pay grade.

Hmmm, party of defeat and surrender.

Roosevelt/Truman: Defeated Nazis and nuked Japan into surrender.

Kennedy: Stood up the Soviet Union and got them to blink in the Cuban missile crisis.

Johnson: Deepened U.S. involvement in stupid war.

Nixon: Peace with honor, otherwise known as letting North Vietnam have total control of Vietnam.

Reagan: Lebanon barracks is bombed, hightailed it out of Lebanon. He did kick some ass in Grenada though.

Bush Sr.: Gulf War, have to give him an attaboy on the way he conducted that war.

Bush Jr: Overthrew Taliban and Saddam and continues to occupy Iraq without a purpose which allows the Taliban to regroup and strengthen in Afghanistan. Meanwhile the group that organized the attacks of 9/11 continue to operate and elude capture.

Hi Octillo. I'd like to congratulate you on a well thought out and highly insightful post that is a credit to the forum. I haven't heard amyone saying the things you are saying before and you should feel pretty good about your political IQ.

If only the forum had 50 or 60 more liberals just like you...saying the exact same things, and it was on the news.

Do you think the Iraq war is about Oil?

Nixon: Peace with honor, otherwise known as letting North Vietnam have total control of Vietnam.
It wasn't peace with honor, he surrendered a war we were winning because the liberal press beat his ass into submission.

Roosevelt/Truman: Defeated Nazis and nuked Japan into surrender.
Too bad there is no one like that left in the Democratic party today.

You conveniently left out Clinton getting punked in Somalia too. Nice.

Roosevelt/Truman --Did not safe guard Nuke secrets now everyone will have a nuke.

Kennedy --Yeah he stood up to the Russians but didn't finish the job. So the Russians just moved into Latin America where we had to root them out.

Johnson-- took over Kennedy's un-finished police action --and how did the democrats run this war?

Nixon--got stuck with the mess that was left by the Democrats.

Reagan--finished the job on the Russians that no Democrat had the balls to finish.

Bush Sr.--Had to clean up the middle east mess left by the biggest joke of a president in the last 100 years --Jimmy Carter.

Bush Jr-- Cleaning up the crap left over from the 2nd biggest joke of a president in the last 100 years Bill Clinton--(I did not have sex with that intern)How many chances did he have to take out Osama Bin Laden but wimped out .

Kennedy: Agreed not to invade or interefere in Cuba causing Castro to have free reign in oppresing his people.

    Johnson: Wasn't he a Democrat?

Sounds like the party of surrender to me.

I would love to see a thread or a post anywhere on the net that provokes real thought and real debate. All I see is Talking points going back and forth. "Your a liberal..you hate america". Your a republican..."you only care about money" Please for the love of god stop just regergitating talking points from FOX news and Hannity, MSNBC and Olberman. Make up your own minds. Look at their positions.

Obama isn't right on everything, and McCain isn't wrong on everything. I am an Obama supporter because the issues he supports are close to me and my family's needs. I don't support his position on abortion, but It isn't a deal breaker for me. I am pro Life, but I don't belive the government should make a decision for anyone. It's a personal thing for a woman, and one other thing...Why is abortion only an issue at election time. You had a republican president, and a republican majority and did nothing to try to overturn Roe V Wade?

Palin is not the best choice McCain should have made. She pretty much shot the experiance argument out of the water. Palin has done nothing that proves to me she is ready to lead if something should happen to McCain. I agree with Obama, her family is off limits. What happens under her roof is not for political gain by anyone. I think this was a desperate attempt to reach Hillary supporters...Women didn't support hillary because she was a chick...she is a competent woman that would make a great president (I think she still will one day) Palin was the wrong choice. I would've been more worried about a McCain/ Romney ticket.

That is all I have right now, sorry the post was so long, I just had a few things I wanted to get off of my chest.
