Obama will not do as well as Kerry did in the last election.
It was genuinely hard to vote for Bush and Cheney...it won't be for this ticket.
Damn you guys are so cynical and miserable...it's just going to drive people away from your cause.
Obama will not do as well as Kerry did in the last election.
It was genuinely hard to vote for Bush and Cheney...it won't be for this ticket.
I hope your right.
I'm just afraid the country is snowed by Obama's socialism promise BS babble.
Even though McCain's speech sucked for the most part, I kinda liked his strategy. Obama promised the world, the moon, the galaxy and most of the known universe in his speech. McCain talked in generalities but overall, he came across as much more believable. His POW talk got damn old but to me it sounded mostly like filler so he didn't have to start getting too specific.
It looked like the game plan of the speech was:
-I was a POW.
-My mom is 96 so don't worry I'm not going to die.
-I was a POW who was in solitary confinement.
-I love the USA.
-Washington is in need of change.
-I may be a hard ass but I do it because I love my country.
-My grandpa died the day after he came home from the military.
-My mom, who is 96, has a good 24 years on me.
-I was a POW who almost died but I love my country.
-I could have left solitary confinement but I stayed because I'm a hard ass.
-My mom wasn't a POW but I was and both her and me AKA the hard ass love our country.
-We need change.
-POW was I.
Honestly, I'm undecided in this election. I don't respect McCain personally too much but I also don't think he'll do anything to hurt our country. He's a plain candidate who isn't much of a risk and could very well do a good job steering the ship.
Obama seems pretty cool and while he's mostly hot air, his power and ability to herd stupid people is off the charts. If someone is dumb and has no longstanding political bias, chances are they thing Obama is the greatest thing since since sliced bread. Seeing as most of the country is consisted of stupid people, that may very well be a huge asset in office.
It'll be interesting to see who I end up supporting. The last two times, Gore and Kerry were such pitiful candidates that they made the decision easy. There isn't a bad candidate this time so it'll be a tougher choice.
I just don't see anything changing with another (R) in office. As of right now, leaning Obama.
And that speech was average at best.
McCain doesn't like to talk about his Vietnam experience...he's spent most of his career not talking it...
It may not matter to you guys what the guy went through, but it matters to me. He's not full of about it. And you guys can't go after him like you did Bush...he's a vet. His son served in Iraq, his entire family has served this country.
I don't know why ya'll resent that so much...but it's not impressing me.
You're a bunch of cynical whining es...
In fact you seem jealous.
That's all they have.
Can you explain what else they have? What ideas?
Democrats used harsh rhetoric in Denver to attack GOP policies and McCain's stands on issues.
Here is what we just heard this week in St. Paul. I could not believe my ears when I heard the following things:
- The former mayor of New York City using "cosmopolitan" as a pejorative
- Republicans talking up a war most people don't like and most of the rest couldn't care less about.
- Chants of "zero, zero, zero" from Republicans, apparently digging Obama on his meteoric rise in politics. This after Democrats went out of their way to pay respect to McCain's sacrifice and public career and Obama personally defended Palin's credentials and boundaries.
- Teen pregnancy being exalted and a good education mocked by the party that used to pride itself on values.
- Community service being demeaned in the most cruel and base way imaginable. As a person who has done community service before and not because I had to, I was saddened and repulsed.
- A VP candidate promising to be "a friend to families with special needs children" while her own special-needs baby was handed off to a seven-year-old (and no, the father didn't step up to hold the baby).
- Civil rights--a proud American tradition--being turned into nothing more into a nasty laugh line by a major party candidate. I bet McCain's captors never "read him his rights" either.
- A nineteen-year-old future soldier identified to the world as the child of a prominent political figure. I didn't appreciate that when Biden did it either.
- Hockey moms being called pit bulls with lipstick. That stuff may play in Peoria, but it's a sexist remark that should be beneath a major party candidate.
- Republicans talking out of one side of their mouth about how waterboarding isn't torture while on the other side they manage to give us every last detail of McCain's ordeal in Hanoi without using the word.
- Republicans somehow taking up the mantle for "real change" after their party has been in power for 6 of the last 8 years and held the presidency all that time. Better late than never, I guess.
This was jaw-dropping, and not in a good way. I was for Obama all along, and the Democrats certainly used harsh rhetoric of their own in Denver, but it was aimed squarely at GOP policies and McCain's stances on the issues.
It's one thing to say that Obama's resume doesn't qualify him to be President, but it's another to look down on and demean his work with the indigent in Chicago, especially when he probably turned down an extremely lucrative career in corporate law in order to do so. There seemed to be something ugly and personal about the way they were attacking Obama, and I think it will backfire.
And you think its liberals and Democrats who are getting ugly? I don't care about Palin's personal family business. What people write on DailyKos or whatever has nothing to do with me or Obama. I don't like what I know of her record in Alaska, and her speech last night was petty and small for somebody accepting a major party nomination for VP.
I can't honestly say the same.I don't respect McCain personally too much
Call me partisan whatever, the guy is a of a man, and he is pretty darn consistent. He even admits when he changes his mind about things and admitted that at the church interview.
It was not in the least, you're taking that wayyyy out of context.Community service being demeaned in the most cruel and base way imaginable. As a person who has done community service before and not because I had to, I was saddened and repulsed.
I don't think it's relevant enough to the point that they talk about it OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER again instead of talking about what their policy proposals are and what they plan to do for the country. It was cynical horse when Kerry pimped his Vietnam service, and it's cynical horse from McCain when he has nothing to offer the country except more of the same.
There is much fear of the unknown in Obama, he is a politician, not a Saint descended from the heavens, and he will inevitably do things that offend and upset liberals, moderates or conservatives at one point or another. But he's clearly the better choice here, it's not even close. It's about judgment and competence, not who can hump the flag the best. I wish the stars and stripes junkies would just resume masturbating quietly in the corner.
Macomb County is going blue again, CNN.
This isn't about Obama right now. Obama isn't the "experienced" one. McCain didn't give me one damn specific on anything. George Bush did the same thing for 8 years. Promise after promise and didn't deliver on . Why am I going to trust McCain when he can't say how he's going to do anything?
That "I want to cut taxes....my opponent wants to raise taxes" bull isn't going to fly. A in idiot can stand up there and say that . If you have experience and "know how the world works" then bring it and let the people see you're different and know what the you're talking about. That whole speech was garbage.
I have a problem with the idea that the "surge" worked. Sure violence has been reduced, but when the police leave the hornet nest is reborn. This isn't long-term, just an expensive band-aid. I see this as a way to continue corruption of the Bush era.
Whatever.
it made more sence then obama speech
I am surprised that you don't respect McCain. I don't see how anyone cannot at least respect him. He's endured more than 99.9% of the population can ever imagine. He needs to bring up the POW thing. This election will bring out more voters than any in American history. Many of these people don't know his story. This is an effective way to ensure that message gets to as many people as possible.
So you like a guy who doesn't stand on principle? Check....
You seem scared. I would be too if I was backing a losing cause. It may not happen this year, but things are going to be radically different in 10-15 years.
Yeah, we will have a hammer and scicle instead of stars and stripes.
Goody.
He voted against tax cuts, BECAUSE, they didn't include spending cuts.
Think whatever and go ahead and vote for socialism.
By the way...
Any non-idiot can tell Obama's economic plan is not going to work.
You tax the corporations and they will move those companies out of this country. Or they will move the jobs out of this country. Exactly what will he be taxing then? What's left?
Those companies are in the business of making money...they are not going to get jacked willingly.
The ultra rich people will just use loops holes(the loopholes that all the ultra rich Democrats will put in there) to avoid the tax, and the middle class is going to take it up the ass..
Don't get me wrong...I will benefit from Obama's tax plan...but the country won't.
And I still want to know how Obama's going to get gas prices lower....
My beef isn't with his military service. That is definitely commendable.
My lack of respect for McCain more comes from the fact that he cheated on and then left his handicapped wife to marry a rich chick who could further his political aspirations. That was a lame move and it makes me not believe that he's seeking the presidency for any reasons other than that has been his ultimate goal for the last 40 years.
That said, all politicians are dirty so it's hard to either be too surprised or too put off.
" I like where Gas prices are. I just think they went up to fast" - Barack Obamand I still want to know how Obama's going to get gas prices lower....
