o Ortiz claims Juanito Ibarra ripped off Rampage
Posted by Dave Carpinello
In an Interview with PDG, o Ortiz chronicled one of Quinton “Rampage” Jackson’s reasons behind the firing of former trainer Juanito Ibarra.
“Let me explain this to you because it really pisses me off that Ibarra has done what he has done, he is a thief,” said Ortiz. “I have been running training camps for seven years up in Big Bear California and the most that my camp has cost a fighter to attend is $35,000. Ibarra was charging Jackson $65,000 to go to Big Bear. I don’t understand that! He was being very disrespectful and taking advantage of Rampage. Including travel, training partners, food and lodging, the most ever was $35,000, maybe if you flew in more trainers… 40K. Where did that extra money go that Ibarra was charging? Rampage is really pissed and he feels betrayed that he was taken advantage of and I couldn’t agree more with him. I don’t care if Juanito reads this or hears about it anywhere, he already knows that he is blackballed. I don’t care who you are; fighters work very hard for the money they earn and I feel slighted for even knowing Juanito.”
White Chocolate Management (who also represents Jackson) had filed a $10 million lawsuit against Ibarra and Jackson for alleged breach of contract by the two. Jackson has now all but been removed from the lawsuit since since firing Ibarra.
Jackson also recently signed a three-year agreement to train out of the Wolfslair Academy that is based out of the United Kingdom and is the home of both Michael Bisping and Paul Kelly.
I don't think you get one when you get KO'd in like 10 seconds.
lol
the irony
I don't like Rashad very much but good for him...he deserves it.
I bet nobody thought they would see the day two fellows from TUF would fight for a belt.
TUF > Shogun and Chuck

I feel ya...Rashad is starting to grow on me though.
bwaaaaaaa hahahahahah

mmaweekly on Urijah answering a question many wanted to hear
And forget about him going and fighting Kid…its time the Japanese start coming here to fight instead of everyone over there. People say they make too much in marketing to stay in Japan but I say that’s BS. If that was the case and being a Japanese fighter was so lucrative how come the leagues are failing with half fool stadiums? Who is paying them and why? Meh….“I’d like to fight Tyson (Griffin) again. For some reason he keeps saying that I don’t want to fight him. Which is really weird, I don’t know if he really believes that or he’s just trying to promote it,” said Faber during a recent appearance on MMAWeekly Radio. “I actually signed a crappy contract with King of the Cage a long time ago under the impression that we were going to have a rematch. It was right when Tyson signed with the UFC, so it never happened.
“I’d like to get that one back before it’s all said and done.”
Faber stated that he would have no problem moving back up to the lightweight class of 155 pounds to take that fight against Griffin and hopes for a few more big fights in that division, as well as the 135-pound weight class down the road.
“I’d like to do a couple fights at 155,” he commented. “I walk around about 154, but I wouldn’t necessarily put on weight, I’d just kind of go in as I am. I think before it’s all said and done, I will have fought some super fights at 55, probably some at 35, and make my home at 45.”
o Ortiz recently sat down with MMAWeekly.com and discussed his free agent status, which is one of the hottest topics in MMA right now:
"Most likely I'm not going with the UFC, that's about 99% sure that that's not happening. I've got to be thankful for Lorenzo (Fer ta), what he gave me to this point, but it's too bad that they have a president the way he is, just hot headed the way he is, takes everything personal and I wash my hands clean. I did as much as I possibly could for them, and they did as much as they possibly could for me.
"I'm in the midst of possibly signing with somebody. I'm going to go to a company that's going to take me very seriously and use everything that they can use for me. In the public, in fights, in everything.
"I'm going to move on and I'm going to try another company out, I'm going to see how it goes. By the end of this month there will be a big news break, where o Ortiz is going and what I did for a contract."
411 mania!
NBCSports.com's Mike Chiappetta posted an article earlier today where Affliction COO Michael Cohen confirms that Fedor Emelianenko will fight at Affliction's "Day Of Reckoning" PPV which has been moved to January of 2009 in Anaheim, California. Cohen also mentioned that Affliction will hold a press conference in two weeks where they will make a major announcement that will "change the dynamics of mixed martials arts. Not just nationally, but globally."

There is nowhere else for o to go, long term. Everyone else is just bleeding money big time right now. Shows are getting post-poned and just outright cancelled. The UFC is so HUGE that something like UFC 88, one of the lesser promoted cards of the year, got big attendance and PPV buys. The UFC is really it right now. If o wants to fight 4 or 5 more times, and make some good money, he is going to have to end up there, i would think.
There is no way Fedor fights NYE and has a 3 week turnaround.
Not buying it.
Im just posting what I read. Im not some Affliction official or anything![]()
Of course! I was just making comments out loud.
Genius on Affliction...they have turned this awful news in a bull cloud of smoke to boomerang fans around.
The o Vs Fedor rumors are already circulating. Well done Affliction...very well played.
There is going to be 1,000 rumors a month over the next 4 months as Affliction, DREAM and EXC are all on shaky legs. Chaos stories and speculation.
Awesome way to herald in the new forum!!!! haha
I saw this guy (Ruben "Cobrinha" Charles) compete at a bjj tournament last weekend and he was simply amazing. He hasn't lost a match in compe ion in quite a few years and it was obvious why. I wish I would have asked him if he's considering mma (he was very approachable and friendly). He would probably do some damage at 155.
Travis Lutter was there too. I snapped a picture but it's way too blurry.
1:42 has gotta be the coolest scramble I've ever seen.
