This course will cover Smear Campaign strategy and tactics for giving away a high profile national election, specifically the election for President of the United States.

Will touch on all important mobilizing elements sure to increase chances of failure:

    - How to attack opposing candidate on an issue that has been the one common criticism of your own candidate (ex: experience). This keeps your candidate's flaws in the national dialogue due to the ease with which your opponents can reference them to rebutt your attacks. This is especially effective if the opponent you are attacking is running for a less important office.

    - How to attack opponent on elements of his/her personal beliefs and experience that many voters can relate to, therefore more strongly aligning those voters to your opponent. Key topics covered:
    --- Christian beliefs
    --- Rural/small town heritage
    --- Parenthood/children

    - How to combine all attacks into a chaotic stream of new daily developments over the course of several weeks. We will explore how this creates a cacophony of criticism that appeals only to your candidate's base, mobilizes the opponent's base, and confuses/frustrates independents by burying legitimate concerns with trivial ones.
--- We will also contrast this strategy with smear campaigns of the past that more successfully integrated attacks under a strong and memorable central theme (ex: Swift Vets)

This course is offered every four years.

    1) Smear campaigns go both ways. Ive heard enough attacks on what McCain "Actually did" while he was a POW to hate liberals for the rest of my life. Randy Rhodes claimed yesterday that his POW experience wasn't that bad because he cooperated with interrogators. Stephanie Miller's stand-ins talked about how Palin banned books while governor etc.

Get off your high horses. The left is just as bad, if not worse, than the right.

    2) Its easy to blame the other side. No one on the left would dare say that just MAYBE Obama should have served longer than a whole year in the senate before deciding he wanted to be president. Maybe Obama should have picked Hillary. Maybe John Kerry shouldn't have blasted the military if he wanted to use it to his benefit forty years later.

Gino, both candidates leave a lot to be desired, but I don't trust a guy who will basically keep Bush's economic programs and wants to escalate things overseas. Obama doesn't have a lot of executive experience, but guess who did? Bush and Cheney, and see where that got us.

Randy Rhodes is in no way representative of mainstream liberals. Anyone who thinks so is an idiot. That's like me saying Rush Limbaugh represents the modern conservative.

I think it's safe to say that Randi Rhodes represents a small segment of the left and that Rush Limbaugh represents a large segmnent of the right!

Randi Rhodes will outright lie and slander the left most the time. Rush is very harsh abouth thouse he dislikes, but most the time, he attack with verifieable facts. He maintains about a 97% factual rating.

A Black coworker, totally frustrated over Obama's slide in the polls, and the way Palin has energized McCain's campaign, said those exact words to me yesterday.

    Palin is a LIGHT. WEIGHT.

that is why this is so funny

she couldn't be a state senator in texas
That's too funny 4c, lightweights don't bring about a 15 percentage point swing in the polls.

    Why do you say that?

    What makes one a "heavyweight"?

One of the best things the repubs did in 04 was to make morality an issue. Bringing gay marriage and stem cells to the forefront when there were worse problems was genius.
