This is going to suck ass. I live in San Benito and Dolly did it's share of damage via flooding. This is going to be a serious disaster.

i remember when rita was projected four days before to hit my playground you said the same thing and scoffed the people who stayed. its way too early to project, unless one is sickly, invalid or a neocon they should wait until the saturday advocate comes out. well known fact victoria has oppressive floods every few years the people there are hard to kill

CH is right, the pressure is extremely low for a Cat 2 storm. But thats because the wind field is so ing huge. TS winds 200 miles from the center! Thats HUGE. I've been out of the loop so I'm not sure what the storm is doing now. I do know that the 0z runs will have more upper air data so they will be even more accurate. Can't wait for thsoe to see what they say.
Ike is now nearly as large as Katrina was. If he clears out and develops an eye overnight.... lookout.
i dont buy Ike hitting closer to Houston than Corpus yet.
10pm track shows an almost direct hit on Houston.
I'll buy it with the next model runs but really the new track makes a lot of sense. Really you have to focus on the cone though. I can't stress enough how important it is for people to focus on the cone and not the middle path.

Ike is moving to the NW at 7 MPH. This means that a hit west/south of Galveston is becoming less likely. A hit the the east of Galveston is looking a lot more likely. Also, Ike is at the same place (same time, same la ude, same day, same projection) as Rita was. Look where Rita made landfall. Also:
