so the Rockets will have the season ended with a worse record than last year even though the team will add Yao, Artest, and Barry to the mix? Niice
1. Spurs 55-27
2. Rockes 54-26
3. Mavs 45-37
4. Hornets 41-41
5. The other team (less than 30 wins)

spurs
hornets
rockets
mavericks
grizzlies
You forgot that the Rockets are always 50% injured during the regular season and STILL virgins to the second round![]()
I am not gonna predict the wins, but I think the Southwest will end up looking like this:
1) Rockets
2) Spurs
3) Hornets
4) Dallas
5) Griz
I think the Rockets will be better, but I still have tons of question marks regarding them. Mainly, health. If T-Mac or Yao miss several games, I would bump them down the list.
I think the Spurs will produce approximately the same amount of wins they usually do.
As for the Hornets, I really think this team will slip. Although they have alot of talent, I still have to see if they can do it more then one year (Warriors). I don't think they found a 3rd scorer to go with Paul and West. I don't really consider Peja a 3rd option simply because he can't really create his own shot. The addition of Posey is nice, but losing Pargo can also hurt this team. In addition, they have had health issues in the past.
Dallas will be better. I just worry about Kidd's offensive production and if Howard can return to form.
The Grizz...who cares.
I am not ranking the teams....Rather, just predicting the seeding in the divison.![]()
It's not a matter of adding Yao or Barry...it's a matter if they can stay on the court. That's a very big concern.
The division, the conference, the entire NBA will be tougher than it's been since the early 80s. We might not see another dynasty for the next decade or so. I say the Hornets or Spurs battle for the SW division le. The Rockets if they could stay healthy (Yao and TMac) and sane (Artest) could give the rest of the league a run for their money.
For the first time in a very long time, I have doubts about our chances.Right now I don't think we have done enough to keep up with the young'uns. Maybe a trade is brewing.
I want us to make the playoffs completely healthy, then I'll see. Scratch that. I believe that we can do it one more time.
But we need Tim playing like playoff Tim sooner rather than later.

my prediction:
Memphis will fail to make the playoffs yet again.
hornets
spurs
mavericks
rockets
grizzlies
Totally out of the picture as per ESPN.. for division and to go all the way...
We're underdogs again homie...

1. Rockets
2. Hornets
3. Spurs
4. Mavs
5. Grizzlies
Every Southwest team will be good and it will be the hardest division in the NBA. Grizzlies will barely miss the Playoffs and they won't be pushovers this year. Mavs and Spurs will hear Grizzly footsteps behind them all season long.
It's amazing how much talent the Grizz have now (Rudy Gay, Hakim Warrick, Mike Conley, Kyle Lowry, Javaris Crittenton. Then you add in their 4 high lottery pick type rookies in OJ Mayo, Marc Gasol, Haddadi, Darrel Arthur.

WTF?Oddly enough, the panel either forgot that the Spurs win the NBA le every other year (2003, 2005, 2007) or doesn't care. How else do you explain San Antonio's not receiving a single vote to win the West?
are you serious?
talk about laker love..
from ESPN of all places - you knew that would happen?
YESSSS!!!!!! Not even on the radar!!!
Pop and the boys must be thrilled!
based on this assessment, i wonder if phil and the lakers are upset they're in the radar..
Why will Rockets play just 80 games this season???
Rockets
Hornets
Spurs
Mavs
The spurs are not going to be improving on last seasons record with their roster and injuries.
laker fans were never good with math.
see bryant, kobe 'better than jordan, michael'
Hornets- 55-27
Rockets 54 -28
Spurs 52-30
Mavs 50-32
Grizzlies 35- 47
Unless we have a major move hidden somewhere
im an MJ fan, if you can't tell.
but i know he's better than kobe.
people tell me kobe is better, but they fail to realize that just numbers-wise alone, MJ is better.
IF IF IF IF the Rockets can have good luck with health, that will be a team to seriously look out for. They were already a damn good defensive team before ronny but now they will be even better. Their Offense was meshing late into the year under Adleman and now with a full training camp, it should be better. Health is the key concern for Houston. If it is on their side this year, I just cant see them going out in round 1.
Hornets 60-22
Rockets 56-26
Mavs 53-29
Grizzlies 43-39
Spurs 41-41
I can live with the Spurs getting #8 spot in the West. I still BELIEVE they can beat anybody with Tim, Tony and Manu healthy.
Tim was the biggest disappointment this past PO run.
