No kidding, he is dragging his big ole azz slowly onto the Texas Coast...
Damn.
It looks like this thing is stalling. The eye is STILL sitting over Galveston Bay.

I can't believe how slowly this is moving. It looks like it's moved maybe 20-25 miles since midnight.
Mark Austin on-air: We have a crew constantly updating KSAT.com.
Me: I'm a crew?
So, Gerry lived?
What the , Ike? What. The. .
Looks nasty as all right now.
Maybe, just maybe, he got swept away. The world would be a better place if he was sent seaworthy.
It's now being forecast for wind gusts up to only 35 mph in SA, at the most, to go with the rain. SA and Austin caught a break.
Houston has 83 mph gusts and up to 4 million people without power.

SA and Austin Nexrad
shows Ike is passing well east of South/Central Texas.

I read that the 22 on the freighter rode it out and survived--does anyone know how those idiots on The Poop Deck bar fared?
Never mind about the poop deck--cnn.com has a pic of the bar on their main page--and it's fully intact. They managed to ride out another one.
I knew this was being totally overblown.
It was maybe a little overestimated, but not overblown at all.
Reliant Stadium lost part of its roof, the Texans game for Monday has been canceled.
I wouldn't go that far. They aren't even letting the media onto Galveston Island. For all we know there could be a significant number of dead people on that island that we haven't heard about yet.
First responders tell KFDM News Orange County took an extensive hit from Hurricane Ike, with people trapped in homes with rising water and a levee breach sending several feet of water streaming into downtown Orange.
First responders tell KFDM News a levee breach has sent 9.3 feet of water into downtown Orange.
Several people are stuck in attics with snakes.
KFDM News spoke live on the air with a woman trapped in a home in Bridge City with a number of relatives, including an elderly person and a baby.
They're all okay but concerned about how long it might take to get help.
all I know is that it's a beautiful day in San Antonio today....![]()
Yeah, it made it a little windy here in Austin. And made the heat a little more bearable.
So far, I'm glad I haven't stocked up on Spam.
+1
I wonder what Lowe's is gonna do with that HUGE stack of $800 generators they had in the middle of the Round Rock location ...
I'm interested to see what happened there.
