Stay safe, ya'll! I've been keeping an eye on this storm for a while now. It looks pretty nasty.

I'm kind of wondering like the above poster how SA isn't going to get hit.

You guys are in my thoughts. Be safe not sorry.
San Antonio is too far inland to have a direct hit like Houston or Galveston...but SA tends to get the high winds and heavy rains, etc.

I remember years ago, a crazy hurricane hit TX in the same area Ike will, and we had a HUGE tree in our front yard uprooted and planted on top our house...and that was in SA.

San Antonio is preparing for winds, heavy rains and flooding. SA is west of the major path projected, at this hour. With hurricanes like this, there is always going to be a chance that tornadoes can spin off from them.

San Antonio, as with other places around Texas and the gulf states, will serve as refuge for coastal residents.

Thank you for letting us know Solid D.
I was planning to ask about your weather situation yesterday but opted to wait for one of you to open a thread.
I am following Hurricane Ike's progress everyday on FoxNews and CNN.

I hope the Spurs won't suffer the same fate as the Hornets(knock on wood***), and relocate to other arena.

WE WILL PRAY for you San Antonio and entire of Texas.

Just read the article in Yahoo!

It could cover the whole state of Texas and it's as strong as expected.

You're all in our prayers. Be safe, especially for those who stayed.

winds getting pretty heavy...power is still on, though 600,000 customers are without power.

Im staying up to listen for any tornado warnings that will ring to my cell phone from khou.com weather call subscription. I will summon the wife and 2 lil kids to the safe room. I'm not in the storm surge, and my house is very well constructed and should fare well against winds. If it was cat 4 and a direct hit, I would be out of here.......

I'm not in houston proper, so I've got that going for me in way north west suburbs......

Galveston, Houston, Beaumont and over to Lake Charles, are getting the worst of it. Supposedly, up to 4 million in Houston area without power. Gusts 83 mph in Houston, 96 mph in Beaumont.

San Antonio and Austin are fortunate and will not get hit by Ike, other than maybe some outer activity rain and 25-35 mph winds.

I am in Tyler...it raining pretty good right now and we are going to have the center pass right over us...so it looks like we could get 60mph gusts.

Here is an eyewall video from Clear Lake.

Pray for all those still on the coast...many are trapped and are waiting for emergency crews to make their way to them.

I have a sister who is a nurse and has a house in Houston, she texted me yesterday she's okay. She's on duty and safe in the hospital. She hasn't seen what happened to her house yet.
