dodgers cant win a single game. losers.
man, i wanted manny to do good, but i guess he deserves it after the mess in boston.
it's gonna suck so bad when he signs with the yankees next year![]()

for the sake of both of us, let's pray not.
will rockies win the division
that's who i got my money on.
manny goes 4-4 with a walk and dodgers still get pounded. awesome!!
faith people faith. 1.5 games back now!
Just think what L.A. might look like if they hadn't thrown insane money at Jones, Pierre, and Furcal.
Manny Ramirez just won the NL Player of the Month Award. Congrats to him
Too bad his team is awful, although they've won a few in a row.
Manny has 8 HRs and 19 RBI in the last 13 games. that is just sick. and for all the haters that said manny will cool down after batting .600 in the opening series..... you're right. he cooled down to .400 now. he definitely sucks.
McCourt better resign this guy and bring in CC.
true. but look at the world series last year. the rockies hit their stride in sept and made it to the fall classic. year before the cardinals and tigers both barely had good enought records to get to the post season and they were the last 2 teams standing. its all about momentum and at this time the dodgers have won 10 outta 11. pretty good IMO
I'd prefer CC. He's a cali guy, and pitching wins championships
Take it, already!!! I love the Diamondbacks, but this whole "race" thing is killing me. Dbacks suck big time right now, but I just can't keep myself from watching since they are actually still leading the division

It would be AWESOME to see Dodgers vs Red Soxs is World Series.
^ that would be the red sox vs the red sox lol. i would love to see that as well. d lowe nomar and manny playing for torre leading the charge against their old team
Statistically, it is much more likely that the eventual NL West winner will fail to win even one game in the NLDS.
Statistically, LA is
4-4 vs Phillies
3-3 vs Mets
4-2 vs Brewers
2-5 vs Cubs
So unless they face the Cubs (which could happen if Brewers continue their free fall), I really think the Dodgers will win a game, maybe even steal the series. Let's not forget the Dodgers boast an NL best 3.65 Team ERA.
I agree that they (NL West winner) will probably win at least one game. However, if you believe in projections by run differential, it is actually more likely that either Arizona or Los Angeles would be swept out of the playoffs than make the World Series.
Unless you consider Arizona "still in contention," which I really don't, then LA has the worst run differential of any of the playoff teams. To be fair, they might pass Milwaukee by the end of the season. They aren't even close to Chicago, New York, or Philadelphia.
On paper, the LA pitching staff is more dangerous in a short series than either Philadelphia's or New York's. This is definitely in LA's favor. My concern for LA is that no one will have to pitch to Manny Ramirez unless they really want to for some unknown reason.
So we're close to the Brewers, but not even close to the Phils, yet they have the same record? interesting.
Projections of future records are made by run differential. What a team will do in the remaining schedule is better predicted by this figure than their actual record.
Example: the Pythagorean Projection has a team at 81-81. On Day 142 of the season, this hypothetical team has 71-71, having had long losing and winning streaks. The hypothetical team has been on a winning streak to raise their record to 71-71. Odds are, they will play .500 baseball for the rest of the season, rather than continuing their "hot streak."
Run differentials as of today:
Chicago Cubs + 187
Philadelphia Phillies + 107
New York Mets + 84
Milwaukee Brewers + 52
LA Dodgers + 45
Arizona Diamondbacks + 7
Statistically, the Brewers and Phillies should not have identical records, particularly since the Brewers play in a tougher division. (That last point is debatable.) The Phillies should be better, which is somewhat indicated by the fact that Philadelphia beat the snot out of Milwaukee four games in a row.
Since run differential is used to predict future outcomes, this suggests that Milwaukee will continue to lose most of their remaining games, while Philadelphia will continue to win most of theirs.
I'm not saying that the metric is infallible. (It isn't.) I am saying that this metric doesn't give LA much of a chance. (It doesn't.)
