That would be just plain stupid, and if said person is stupid enough to do something as physically attacking you, then that wuold be wrong, no question.

But to pull the freedom card in this instance is misleading, because it would apply to any situation as well. It's a matter of someone breaking a law through carrying out a physical attack that is not in a situation where his/her life is threatened.

That person is wrong in breaking the law, not in the form of suppressing your freedom of expression.

The cons ution was set up to apply restraint to govermental bodies where people are free to express their displeasure and opinions that differs from the government's view point in a legal manner, and not having to suffer consequences since. Criminal law more than covers the aspects of physical assault.
