Sometimes I have cash, sometimes not. I pretty much use the debit card for everything. But the absolute best thing I have done is gotten my son a debit card with a preset limit. I just go online and add his allowance, don't need cash. It's great to drop him off at the mall with his friends and tell him to pickup some socks or shirts and not have to go in to pay or have the cash for him. It's very nice.

That's pretty much what we did w/my daughter except now she has graduated to a true debit card. It's tied to a checking account since she has a job now. It's been awesome since she started working at HEB b/c now I don't have to to do the shopping anymore. I tell her to pick up whatever I need and then go online and transfer it right into her account.
