Even o in his book admitting the UFC fairly pays on a scale to profit * so if we want these dudes to get paid this is the price we pay.

*Except when it comes to him, lol
They are not paid fairly at all. GSP is one of the biggest MMA stars in the world and he makes something like 200 grand a fight, in a sold out arena, with ticket prices like that and a huge PPV audience. Chuck gets 500 grand nomatter what. For ihs star appeal and what he brings in that is painfully low. In his day Mike Tyson would make 15 mil fighting in front of a half filled arena broadcast on HBO. I read Dana White's cut of what he owns of the UFC is over 100 mil. The company is worth over a billion dollars. But guy's making 5-10 grand a fight is fair. Come on Evan.

Didn't Keith Jardine make like 20 grand for beating Chuck??

You need to re-read what I wrote and take what I said in context.

No, Keith said he made more than that. Thats just the base pay per fight. You should read some of these MMA biographies popping up from the fighters. You get a much better idea of what they make and HOW they make it. The simply cut and past stories on base pay are only a part of it.

Look up what o made his last fight and I will tell you what o said he makes in his book.

If you think the UFC is unable to pay them far more then they are, then i don't know what to tell ya. Re-read what i wrote for starters, the numbers of what the UFC is worth and pulls in each event compared to what they pay don't add up.

There have been countless fighters that have complained about the pay scale in the UFC, some of them got sent packing because of it. Most fighters who aren't stars, are hardly thrilled with their pay scale, i read that all the time. Basically the big stars, get sponsorship, a PPV cut, some fight bonuses, like that. Some of them start gyms and open schools, like Matt Serra. The middle of the row guys like Matt Hamiil don't get a whole lot. He just made 10 grand for losing to Franklin and on that MMA show on ESPN.com it was even a question that Kenny Florian addressed. He basically just said you have "Build your way up and your trainers understand you are not going to be making much until you hit the big time"

This is what War Machine just said before he got cut

"What else is an underpaid fighter supposed to do at the end of his career?" War Machine wrote in the posting. "Cash in his 401K? Collect social security? Start to work some [expletive] job for 10 bucks an hour? (This) [expletive] ain't boxing, and if you're not Chuck [Liddell] or o Ortiz, you don't get paid ."

Now that is a little strong but you get the idea

Good Lord dude...I never said they make enough. Re-read what I wrote...I was saying what o said.

You have completely mistaken the context of what I said.

But moving on...those base scales are not true to what they make. That much I do know for sure. But to make it clear...do I think they make enough...I don't know. I really don't. I want these guys to make as much as possible but there is a reason why so many of these orgs are imploding. Maybe its because the orgs pay the fighters too much at times...I just don't know. MMA just isn't there yet. Its still in its infancy and it seems like everyone is having a hard time making a profit.

MMA as a whole is really the UFC. That is the way the gen public looks at it. These other organaizations are having a hard time because they don;t have the talent to really draw consistantly like the UFC can. With the TV deals, merchandising, PPV and live gate alone the UFC is a juggernut is all i am saying. It just seems to me like guys like Hammill have to rely on a big bonus coming his way because the UFC won't give him much more than a 10K base off his loss in a co-main event fight. And since a lot of fighters really complain about this i tend to side more with them than the company. I firmly believe that as long as the UFC is the only game in town, this will continue.

I think that's the problem I have with people complaining about fighter's pay. You don't know what these fighters make. The only thing people know is what's reported to the comissions, but it isn't all the money they make.

But it's safe to say they are not making enough when you compare it to boxing which is basically a dead sport yet, guys routinely make in the millions of dollars when half the people are watching that used too. More than enough fighters have complained about their pay to easily cite this as an issue.

Love you guys...always up for a good debate without getting abusive like most forums.

Exactly...and not to sound like a broken record but if you read these bio's you get a much better idea how they make money but its still cloudy. Its nothing like what we see reported plus the UFC allows them to have those banners and ads on shorts which is a ton of income. Not every org lets you do that.

But it's safe to say they are not making enough when you compare it to boxing which is basically a dead sport yet, guys routinely make in the millions of dollars when half the people are watching that used too.
Boxing still gets so much more in advertising dollars and gates. Yet oddly not as much on PPV on average.

More than enough fighters have complained about their pay to easily cite this as an issue.
Not really...only a handful out of hundreds of fighters.

news about a month ago was that the UFC was having a hard time finding people to fight Cain...

    here's proof

The MMA News Blog Archive Cain Velasquez Rumored To Fight Mustafa Al-Turk At UFN16.
I have seen this guy a couple times on CR cards but don't know much about him.

The other thing to note here is that undercard fighters, in boxing, usually make very little money, much like undercard fighters like War Machine. The guy is a nobody and expects big bucks. It isn't going to happen.

Even if UFC starts paying out more money, it isn't going to towards the fighters on the undercards. Yes, there will always be exceptions for some of the fighters on the undercards who know how to negotiate, but nothing will ever be drastic.

GSP may pack in crowds at Montreal, but he still isn't the biggest draw out there. I'm sure he'll get a bump in pay during his next contract/extension. He's becoming more and more popular.

Popularity has everything to do with pay, along with performance.

Josh Barnett quote that I'm paraphrasing...

"Undercard fighters who make 10k don't sell 10k worth of tickets"

During an interview with Tatame.com, Vitor Belfort mentioned that he will be fighting at Affliction 2 in January and that he would even be interested in facing the #1 heavyweight fighter in the world, Fedor Emelianenko:

"My hand is getting better. I'm doing a lot of physical training and physiotherapy. I didn't care about the postponement, I wasn't going to fight anyway. I'll surely be back [at Affliction 2]. I spoke with Tom Atencio and what they decide is good for me, I'm ready to face anyone. If they want so, I can face Fedor (Emelianenko)"

    411 mania...

    Really Vitor....Really?

Good for EXC...I hope this happens.

    Arlovski-Nelson Tapped for CBS
although I found this paragraph highly amusing

The last-minute addition will be presented as an Affiction-EliteXC co-promoted fight, and adds a quite a punch to an already anticipated roster featuring a showdown between former Internet brawler Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson and UFC Hall-of-Famer Ken Shamrock.
