The Democrats or the Republicans are writing their own bail out bill. How much of the Bush proposal do you think they are using. McCain was briefed on the proposal. If they reach an agreement McCain will be at the debate. He does not need to study!
Bush's proposal was three pages long, idiot.

They claimed they did use Paulson's plan. They just added things that were necessary that the republicans are now against.

Of course Paulson's plan was the basis for the bailout talks today. Only an idiot would say otherwise.

Barney Frank: GOP Colleagues Winced At 'Mighty Mouse' McCain

One would think that some of John McCain's Republican colleagues might actually want to help him become president of these United States, but no: given the opportunity to ensure that the presidential candidate might be able to make a substantive contribution to bailout measure negotiations, McCain's friends in the Republican Party put their noses to the grindstone and worked out a deal without any Maverick input. Clearly Republican leaders are totally in the tank for Obama.

How painful was the thought of working alongside McCain? Over at Politico, they report that Barney Frank minced few words, saying:
"Nobody mentioned him. The man's irrelevant to the whole process. No Republican mentioned his name. I'm the only one who raised his name. They winced when I did."

Frank also compared McCain to a cartoon superhero:
"He's been irrelevant to the process. He remains to be," said Frank. "I was afraid that his dropping in here, like Andy Kaufman's Mighty Mouse -- 'here I am to save the day' -- I thought that would slow things down. I didn't see any sign of our Republican colleagues paying any attention to him whatsoever."

How's the "My-campaign-suspended-to-Save-America" working out, McRidicule?

And will you cave in and show up in Mississippi to "debate" with the pre-school-comp-sex-ed Muslim Terrorist?

    McCain Key To Bailout's Future?

Media reports indicate congressional Democrats and Republicans alike are anxiously looking to Sen. John McCain for cues on his stance on the financial bailout package. Stories suggest the GOP nominee's stance on the legislation could prove decisive to its passage. ABC World News, for example, reported McCain "may hold the fate of the $700 billion bailout proposal in his hands. Even with Vice President Cheney lobbying hard for the bill today, top congressional Republicans say if McCain does not support the bill, it will likely die" and "Democratic leaders have told the White House a deal without McCain on board will mean no sale. They say they fear McCain will, quote, 'demagogue' the bill and Democrats on the campaign trail." Roll Call adds, "According to a Democratic aide familiar with the discussions," Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid told Treasury Secretary Paulson "this week that 'if McCain didn't come out for this thing and come out for it quickly, it was going to begin bleeding Republican votes.' Democrats 'have a very real concern that opposition [from McCain] is going to drive away potential Republican votes,' this aide said."

However, there are conflicting signs in the media on the level of McCain's support for the package. The AP reported McCain "hinted he might vote against" the bill yesterday, calling the price tag "staggering." However, The Hill reports Reid "announced" that McCain would support the package, saying last night, "I got some good news in the last hour or so ... it appears that Sen. McCain is going to come out for this." The Wall Street Journal reports that in a Q&A session with reporters after an appearance in Freeland, Michigan, McCain "declined to say if he saw any deal-breakers that could force him to vote against the proposal. He said that Democrats in Congress waiting to see if he would support the legislation should instead focus on the nature of the financial crisis and not worry about his vote."

It's good that McCain is so forthright in stating his position on the bailout.

    Straight talk.

    On Morning Joe today -

Joe Scarborough: You're the ranking Republican on the Senate Banking Committee and know this stuff better than anyone.... Has John McCain called you in the last week or so?

    Senator Richard Shelby: No.

    .

Today we also had John McCain's own revelation that he hadn't read the Paulson plan as late as yesterday.
    Seriously?

The thing is 3 pages long.

All I can say is: .

If I had harbored any lingering doubts about voting or not voting for the Guy, that would have sealed it, especially given the noise he has been making about suspending his campaign to have more time to "deal" with the crisis.
