To the best of my knowledge no cats were hurt in this.
Why Paint Cats

Dear God Why.
The neighbors across the street from my best friend used to dye their white cat with Manic Panic every Easter, like it was being "festive" or some . I always thought it was closer to animal abuse.
WTF you can't paint cats like that.![]()
that proves cat people are crazy freaks. dogs have enough decency to bite your hand off if you dare paint them.
The site has lots of posts on both sides of the issue. Everything I found said it's done with henna and natural ingredients and that the animals aren't hurt in any way. I didn't find exactly how it's done, I don't know if the cat has to be under anesthetic to do it. I would think it does, and that can pose its own risks.
I did find that it can cost up to $15,000 to do it and it grows out in about 3 months as the cat's fur grows. If someone is spending that kind of money on their pet I would hope they're not hurting it.
I've always had cats, I've got 4 now. I wouldn't do it, but I thought the pics were great. As long as they're not hurt in the process.
WTF?! Where are these people who are so loose with their money, and why aren't they contributing to my grad school fund?!
People that paint cats are as bad as people who dress up their dogs (and worse if they waste more than $15 doing it, let alone $15K). Get a life. people.
I'm not a cat guy but I think the paint jobs look pretty cool.
Hopefully these cats arent drugged or anything so this can be done.
First of all, I hate cats. I have made my feelings on that very clear. However, I feel damn sorry for these poor cats. Whether they are 'hurt' or not, you gotta figure they are either put under (which has risks, as duncan228 said) or forcibly held down in some way, a trauma all its own. Either way, going through all that work for something that lasts three months is ridiculous.
Those cats look photoshopped, there is no way a cat is going to sit still while you spray paint their face, much less get that kind of detail.
The only way I can see, would be using an airbrush and stencils. I have no idea how you would keep the cat absolutely still in order to do it that way.
get the cat on a catnip buzz.
I'm thinking the cat has to be under anesthetic. If it's real and not photoshopped I don't see any other way.
There's no way in you're getting my cats to sit still to do that unless you drug them.
Those cats look cool.
People dye poodles right (?) so I am guessing that cats can be dyed as well without ill effects to thier health.
That said, I agree with the people who question how you could get a cat to sit through all that.
Duplicate post.
lol its not that big a deal trying to get a cat to stay still. They probably just tie them, like what they do when they get their nails cut.
? I trim my cats claws without tying them.
Well then, maybe they have the same success with these cats when they paint them.
That is creepy. The people who paint there cats to match them, they need help.
