Whatever you do get it fixed, rather than doing it "eventually".
One of the worst things you can do is allow a car to overheat.
Most car engines nowadays have aluminum heads, when aluminum gets hot it warps, when your heads warp your coolant leaks, and you'll be in for one of the most expensive repairs there is.

It's more than likely your thermostat. I had the same problem two years ago with my Mitsubishi. First the thermostat went, then like a year later I had to replace the radiator and the hoses. The whole thing probably ran me around $1100.
Did they at least give you a reach around?

so quick update.... I didn't take the highwway home because I was afraid of overheating. I turned off my air and that kept the temp down. By the time I got to Fredricksburg and Huebner to turn onto Bab I heard a noise that I couldn't ignore so I pulled into the little gas station that's a Jack in th Box too. I poured some coolant/anti freeze in it and turned on the car to see what was happening. Turns out the water pump is leaking and there was a huge stream of the water/antifreeze/coolant trailing off into the sunset. Tow truck was called and so will the insurance comapny. The water pump is right where the accident I got into in June is. So somebody missed something! dum dum dum!
I hope you have a good insurance company, considering that was four months ago...
For one thing I messed up by taking it back to the dealer and not shopping around. That was was partly because of my dumbness/impatience.
And 2, that was for both services. I think they charged me between 3-4 to change my thermostat/labor the first time and $600 for the radiator/labor like a year later. But yeah I'm not denying the fact that I got hosed. If that ever happens again I'm just going to buy the radiator and put it in myself.

I would agree. Unless it was on the list of parts "replaced" and then went bad after 4 months (hint: it probably was never replaced), I think you are S.O.L.

Unless someone backed into the front of her car at a high rate of speed the accident was her fault to start with and her insurance company already picked up the tab for both cars. Another claim/insurance rate increase will make buying a water pump seem cheap.
I understand and I don't doubt my rates will go up this upcoming renewal. But, I specifically said "hey my coolant light came on but nothing was wrong..." Got it back after the repairs and everything was fine and then this happened. The point of impact was right right at the right headlight.
your insurance isn't going to do they've already settled this account. This is why I don't buy new cars. Water pump for my Corvette 150. 3 hours to replace it and its easy work.
This will be a minimum 600 dollar repair. This is why white chics have mexican boyfriends. Someone always knows someone who knows a mechanic.
Sure would be nice if getting to the #8 spark plug on your vette was that easy. On mine you had to unbolt the motor mounts and jack the engine up just to get to the damn plug.
Even if you think its part of the accident its not.....this is the classic case of a frozen thermostat........just have it replaced and it will take care of your problem ((explains the leaks and overheating))....book it
I've never really had an issue. I always use a snake. However I don't have the original engine in mine. Everything smog related has been removed and I don't even have A/C. Pretty easy to get to just about anything.
I wish I could have a conversation about my corvette that I don't have.

If it makes you feel any better its parked in need of another new alternator of which I have no extra money for right now.
