Doesn't make any sense when you first hear it, but then when you think about his Mom basically deserting him you can start to see why he might feel that way. He was raised by whites and talks more like them than he does a black guy...yet he pretty much rejects that aspect of his heritage and his disdain for it slips out every once in a whole(like the quote about his Grandma from a while back)...

And there's absolutely no doubt he grew up cast out of both worlds, I mean he his Dad deserted him too...he belonged to no world, probably in large part due to his parents interractial marrige...I bet you he doesn't fee like it was a blessing....I bet you he feels it was the cause of nearly every difficulty and hardship in his life.
