Let's see, why do we have 5 PG's with only 1 big man? Hmmm.. Here goes guys, let the flames begin!

    Oberto, Bonner, Udoka and Vaghn

    for

Haslem and Wright (Trade after December)

I actually really like our lineup if that somehow did happen:

    Parker/Hill
    Manu/Mason
    Wright/Bowen
    Haslem/Ian
    Duncan/Thomas

    Chamlers/Vaughn
    Wade/
    Marion/Udoka
    Beasly/Bonner
    Oberto/

Did Pop call Larry Brown about G. Wallace?

Brown acknowledged they did consider trading Wallace, but said many of the discussions were initiated by other teams.

"As soon as I got the job a lot of my friends started calling me about him," Brown said. "I had a lot of guys that are general managers that I'm close to, or coaches.

Maybe the Heat trade Haslem closer to the trade deadline but not right now. They need Haslem to break in Beasley. Wright is one of their best young guys.

Most importantly, I can't really see any motivation for trading Haslem/Wright for these studs unless Miami is looking to dump salary:

    Oberto, Bonner, Udoka and Vaghn

The only player that might have some value there is Udoka but his age, odd size and low pedigree makes him difficult to sell. Oberto has some value but his age (34/35) makes him an option only for Championship contenders, which the Heat are not.

    Fabricio Oberto is 33.
Udoka being 31 and 6'5 is an issue because he would be brought in as a defender. But at 31
    • He's not particularly fast and he's not going to get faster
    • He's a good defender but he's better suited to guarding Small Forwards. But at 6'5, he's not tall enough. To guard Shooting guards, he's tall enough but not quick enough.

Fabricio is indeed 33, my bad. At 33, he still is only a good fit for a championship team that wants to win now. He's not a player you can build on so alot of the younger teams would not consider him. His primary trade value is to the top 5-8 teams in the NBA who are just looking for another piece to take him over the top. Problem is, most cusp teams like that already have a Center as good as or better than Oberto.

And of course, players always have some value in salary dumps.

You're smoking crack, no way the Pacers do that trade unless Bird is smoking crack too.

I read on real gm that the Miami Heat are considering to sign Livingston and after trading Cook or Butler for nothing, just for avoiding the luxury tax...
I knew cook was in our scountg last draft as a primary target...and wright is always been loved, at least in this forum.
Any chance we're gonna do something ?

Ill say this for a thread thats just make up stories cos of boredom. If the Spurs dont make some kind of trade for a big to help Timmy. We wont go all the way. Noway will Fab and Kurt take us to another Championship. I dont count Ian cos from what I've seen, he still isnt worth the time we've wasted on him. I know it, most real Spurs fans know it, and the FO based on last seasons play has to know it. Timmy cant guard 2 bigs at one time. By the time Timmy looks for the ball that just got shot, he turns around and is making his way back up the court to play offense. Thats what Fab and Kurt bring to the table.................nada

agree. about what kind of team might take Oberto.
don't agree that those teams are all already equipped at PF/C. Fab would be a typical 3rd or 4th man in a big rotation and at 3.5 M he isn't that much overpayed either.
I'm sure the Rockets would not mind to get him to finally have a back up for Yao. (the success of Scola in Houston would help his case either)
Celtics also only have inexperienced young players behind KG and Perkins.
the fact that the last year of Fab's contract isn't full guaranteed (50%) makes him somehow interesting in salary dump scenarios.

    Yep, I just read it.

    http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/s...,6028239.story
The addition of Livingston likely will lead to another significant transaction, with Riley vowing to keep his team from the dollar-for-dollar luxury tax on excessive payroll. Riley said the Heat is just $415,000 in payroll from the 2008-09 luxury-tax threshold.

Among the options for the Heat could be trading the likes of Daequan Cook or Dorell Wright into another team's salary-cap trade exception, possibly with the incentive of also including a second-round draft choice and cash.
I don't know how accurate it is given that Wright can't be traded because he has signed a new contract but if Cook is available, it's very interesting.

As you said, Spurs wanted Cook last year and they have the Beno trade exception who is big enough to take Cook's contract.

That is a good point, there are a few teams that could use him...Celtics to replace PJ Brown, Hornets could use him too since they have terrible backups to Chandler. Rockets do have Dikembe who I think is back this year.

I guess the question is would the Spurs trade with another contender to help themselves in the process.

    Try This
    http://games.espn.go.com/nba/feature...:24-2448&cash=

Nocioni and Aaron Gray to SA,
Oberto and Bonner and the Beno TE to Chi

Adjust with 2nd round picks if neccesary. SA gets Nocioni, and gets younger (Gray put up Oberto-ish numbers last year as a rook) and the starting line-up looks like:

    C - KT
    PF- Duncan
    SF - Nocioni
    SG - Bowen
    PG - Parker

With Gray, Mahinmi as backup bigs (makes space for both Tolliver and Gaines), Udoka, Finley, Manu (6th Man) and Mason on the wings, Hill and Vaughn as backup pg's (if we need to make room, we could include Vaughn in the deal and throw in cash compensation so the Bulls could cut him...)

Meanwhile, Chi gets out from Nocioni's contract and gets 2010 expirings..
