A few easy ways I used to drop 45 pounds in about 4/5 months a few years ago:

    1) No sodas and cut out junk food crap
    2) Jog/run 2 miles 4 to 5 times a week (it's not nearly as hard as it sounds, although it is very hard in the beginning).
    3) No chips before my Mexican food
    4) Eat a decent salad every once in a while.
    5) Still eat the meals you like; just don't go overboard on them as compensation for skipping the snacks in step 1.

Nothing makes you feel better and happier than being in good health. I've let myself get 30 pounds overweight the last couple of years from lack of exercise and working desk jobs, but after a week of running and jogging 2 miles a day it has become easy. It only gets easier as you go along and build confidence and strength.

    i'm down for a contest...

i'm likely to win if we just go by pounds so it would prob be more fair to go by %lost...

women might have to have their own pool as they lose weight different...

pick an end date....maybe a six week contest ending day before thanksgiving?

we can get started anytime...but yeah, we'd have to be local so we can meetup and weigh on the same scale...GNC's have that 50cent one that gives a printout...

and no wearing wet jeans and work boots the first weigh in and then gay pride jogging shorts and sandals the 2nd weigh in...

i don't care who holds the cash as long as it ain't mouse...

    K, you care to assist?

    who else wants in?

if we go 50 a head...and get some more participants...this could be very worth while...for the winner and the contestants as well...

what scale is going to tell you your body fat %?
just cause your fatter doesnt mean you are automatically gonna lose the most weight...you have to get that big thing off the couch first...but it does make it easier for you to drop the weight...50 a head sounds legit...the day before turkey sounds ok...not really a whole lotta time but could work...pm me or post when this is serious...

    not body fat %,

    just weight lost/starting weight

    i.e.

lets say tpark weighed 300 and lost 30.

    that would be 30/300=10%.

    highest percentage wins.

so far it's you and me dannyT, but who else wants in...

i'd like at least 4...what do you think?

i'd get off the sofa for 6 weeks for a shot at 200 bux...

Now I know you're a ing richer, throwing your treadmill in the pool.

Seriously, set small goals to build up your confidence, and as you meet those small goals, make them bigger. One of the great things about starting exercising when you're out of shape is that results come quick when you push yourself.

get away from deep fried food and ice cream .

walk 8000 steps per day ,or jog half an hour . aerobic is all you need , no intensity !!! keep doing it for 1 year .

i dont approve people to lose their weight( more than 20 lbs) in a few weeks . losing weight is a process , you gotta take it step by step . no need to diet . for those who lost weight by dieting , i bet you will regain it back very soon or you will have healthy problem .

I had tons (TONS TONS TONS) to lose that I really gained once I got out of college and out of rec leagues, etc... doing the 9-5 every day really took me out of being active for a while. The wife wanted a treadmill (which she has hardly used) and I caved knowing I would use it to a degree. I work out 40 minutes on it early every morning before shower and heading to work... watch tv seasons on dvd's or stuff off of the DVR to keep my mind busy - it's worked well. Ate better in general... ate less to a degree, but more healthier than anything. I've dropped ~75-80 lbs since February but have definitely slowed down as of late as the super easy fat to get rid of is gone.

I dropped from a 40" waist to a 34" hitting the gym for weights, walking in the evening and (I am with TPark on this) eating sensibly. Sodas are gross anyway and if you drop them for a while you won't feel inclined to pick them up again. Avoid grains (with the exception of oatmeal in the morning-not instant) especially breads (btw, whole wheat is a marketing term it does not mean whole grain). Just eat lean meats, veggies and fruit; no processed stuff. Didn't have to give up beer

Nothing fried, use common sense when cooking, ie. bake everything where possible - fries, fish, chicken - use ground turkey instead of ground beef where you can, if you have to cook with oil use pam or olive oil (good for your heart) easy on the tortillas (if you must), no white bread, if you have to have bread get the chunkiest whole grain kind possible, cut out sugar, cut out sodas, at least 30 minutes of walking every other day if not every day...it will get easier and you'll start to look forward to it. another trick is to drink a tall glass of water or two before you eat, you'll feel full faster and not eat as much. don't deprive yourself...if you want that burger..go for it...if you gotta have some fries...go for it...just don't do it all the time. if you allow yourself something "bad" once a month or so, it'll be easier than just going without. at fast food places...three words - grilled, chicken, sandwich. good luck!

you just gotta read the first ingredient on the label. whole wheat flour is what you want, not the enriched stuff.

That's a pretty extreme diet that not many people will follow long-term. Turkey subs utes for ground beef and bacon taste like crap.

Focusing on activity versus diet is way more important IMO. Running, swimming, playing basketball, riding a bike, etc. is a positive change that is lasting because it's fun. There's nothing enjoyable about cutting back so much of what one likes to eat though. Unless you're just stuffing yourself with fried chicken or puffy tacos all the time, exercise is what's going to have the best impact vs dieting.

I think it's just important to use common sense when eating. Eating until you're stuffed should be off limits, food with natural vibrant color almost always is better than dull brown, and so on.

ground turkey sauteed with olive oil, chopped onions, garlic, and possibly diced hatch green chiles is a pretty damn good subs ute. personally, i use venison in lieu of ground beef myself, but then again i have a deep freeze full of it. i do agree with turkey bacon not being all that though.

Get off your ass and run 5 miles a day and you can eat or drink anything you want.

When I was in the Army we had fried fish butter bread sodas cakes macaroni and cheese etc... but we ran in the mornings and stayed busy all day.

My advise is to score some good speed if you want the easy way out. Have you ever seen a fat meth addict?
