Man that suit is quite possibly the coolest I have ever seen. Not to mention Tony Stark is the ultimate badass....

I wish I could take credit. I saw it three times in the theater and never noticed. I only found out after a conversation with my sister, who only found out after checking out some movie message boards. According to her (or more accurately the nerd ramblings she came across) it was put into the shot in post production. The initial trailer has that same shot in it with just an empty space on the table.

He did both. He took over as Iron Man when Stark lost his company to Stane, wearing the Iron Man armor, then later donned the VTRBS (Variable Threat Response Battle Suit), a.k.a. the "War Machine" armor.
