Today's magic number is the number of financial industry lobbyists working for the McCain campaign, "aiding Senator McCain's presidential campaign as bundlers of campaign contributions, advisors on policies (like, ummm, how to respond to this crisis), or staff members. These 84 lobbyists have made $109 million in lobbying fees from their clients in these industries over the last ten years."

Continuing the shining display of niavite and poor judgement shown by his involvement in the Keating savings and loan disaster of the mid 80's, the campaign of "change" seems to be seekint to give us more of the same slavish devotion to anything other than the public good.

    oops.

Today's magic number is 10,000. That is, despite the fact that the bailout happened, the Dow has fallen below that.

Or the magic number could be 1. That is the number of boyfriends Barney Frank had that were upper level executives at Fannie Mae while many of the policies were conceived to encourage Sub Prime mortgages.

Or the number could be 90 + % - which is the number of congressman who are going to KEEP THEIR JOBS in 30 days despite the disaster that is our economic situation.

OR the number could be 1 Billion; which is the number of threads which will be started as the two sides (with otherwise intelligent, reasoned people on each), to snipe at each other; while we all get ass raped by not paying attention to the REAL problem.

    Indeed.

As guilty as I feel about the OP, it is very symptomatic of something Republicans should be very aware of:

    Democrats are pissed.

Swiftboat was frustrating enough, and the Rove-style tactics that got the Republicans a majority in congress for 10 out of the last 12 years, and the presidency for the last 8, have left a lot of Democrats, true or not, feeling like they have taken the high road only to be on by "Bush and his cronies".

Republicans like Palin seem to revel in nastiness, and the cheers she gets from the party faithful for the nasty things she says in her speeches says volumes about the Republican "win at all costs" mentality.

You can expect the Democrats to be just as bare-knuckled this fall, as Democrats are screaming for blood, just as those cheering Palin on are.

Quite frankly, giving people like Aggie Hoopsfan and whottt a taste of their own bile on occasion is a character flaw of mine I am willing to live with.

it also happens to be the number of Palin aides that are going to testify in the probe of her possible abuse of power.

Yet another reminder that she might have more in common with people like Cheney than she would care to admit to.

Yeah, those mean old nasty Republicans. Calling Obama what he is.
Folks like you are a joke.

You mean Obama didn't have The Reverend Wright as a minister?

You mean Obama didn't associate and kick off his political career with
    a know domestic terrorist, Ayers?

You mean Obama did not associate with a known crook, Rezko?

You mean Obama was not part of the Daly Chicago political machine?

You mean he did lawyer for ACORN a left wing, indicted organization?

Obama is a walking, talking lie. A joke. Not qualified for anything
except what he did. A liberal activist lawyer, who associated and
worked with activist in his Neighborhood organizing.

Bring it on about the Keating five, McCain was investigated and

I am afraid we haven't seen anything yet.

I am also afraid that the MSM has done it's job well and poisoned the
minds of Americans that McCain is nothing more than another Bush.

God help all of us if Obama and crowd get into the WH and Congress.
We have just witnessed the socializing of the monetary system of
    our country.

Oh, for term limits. But the old sheman Barney Frank will be back
next session and Schumer and Dodd. Pelosi will be back and if
he survives the old war horse liberal Kennedy.

If Obama gets in health care will be next. o the United States of
    Socialist America.

Everyone will be equally poor, except those in power. And those willing
to go to the underground economy.

Have you, you stupid idiot. He is an out and out socialist. Has done
nothing but socialist work and promotes nothing but socialist ideas.
I really think communist would be a better description of him.

Yeah I have read about him and his associates and neighbors and his

Please explain to me how Obama’s health care reform is socialist in nature. He is for all existing families and working individuals to keep their current health care providers. The only individuals that he favors government intervention for are those without health care presently, which is a huge number of people.

Please explain to me how wanting to insure people who cannot afford a doctor is a bad idea? Oh, the horror. Those poor people don’t have their own late model sports sedan, so why should we allow a doctor to care for them?

    http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/06/op...on&oref=slogin

Hmmm, hey look. I can list modestly credible sources who weigh both sides. Can you? Can you to respond to anything with substance, rather than bandying about talking points from the most biased of media sources and using hyperbole?

    Nothing complicated about it.

Just take a gun, go down the street rob everyone you see, and
explain to them that others need their money more than them.

Except here we have a party and individuals that will just pass a law,
take your money and give it to those they think more deserving.

In either case, no one ask, can you afford to help someone without
insurance. Except no one ask those without insurance, how did you
    spend your last paycheck.

Also, can you answer a simple question. Do you, personally, know anyone who has been turned away or goes without medical treatment?

If you do, let me know. The last time I checked it was against the law
for any hospital to turn anyone away. And I can furnish you with an
800 number for any child that need medical help at no expense to the
    the family.

It sounds great to say everyone should have health insurance. But
where does it say the government (us) should furnish it for them.
Especially when we have no knowledge of where they spend their money to begin with. People do have a choice. Except when comes
to paying for others expense when the government picks up the tab.

Based on our federal government's guidance in the financial sector over the past few years, I can't figure how anyone would be excited about giving it control of health care too.

Aggie doesn't think that he is paying for their medical bills, or for the uninsured already.

Little beknownst to most conservatives: We already have a nationalized health care system. The problem is that it costs too much, and is grossly inefficient.

Yes. Raising children is cheap and allows a person so much disposable income! I see your point now.

Except no one ask those without insurance, how did you
    spend your last paycheck.
I'm sure the single mother with 3 kids making $18,000 per year would be happy to take a stand in this thread, but she's too busy working and trying to feed her children to do so.

If you do, let me know. The last time I checked it was against the law for any hospital to turn anyone away.
One of my friends works at a job where his job is to bill families for ambulance rides. Most of them are lower class income families, and cannot even afford an $800 ride to the hospital, let alone the medical care afterward. Who do you think ends up eating that cost? The hospital? The government? And in the meantime, the credit rating of the family disappears even more, they have no prospects for pulling it out of the gutter, ever. Let alone saving up for a 401k or sending their children to college.

People do have a choice. Except when comes
to paying for others expense when the government picks up the tab.
Ah. I've got it now. The best course is to have NO plan to deal with the uninsured. Okay. Great. It's nice to see how medical costs have declined in the past 20 years.

So let's see... how many of you who are opposed to Obama's health care reform have medical insurance already?
