Hey, give the guy a break - it probably really sucks when you're a rich guy and everybody else except your star does their job in the show and you see the potential to make more millions slip away

Benji Radach led off the CBS portion of Elite XC: Heat with an exciting second-round knockout of “Ninja” Rua, but says he was never informed by Elite XC officials before the bout that there was even the possibility of a ‘knockout of the night’ bonus, as Seth Petruzelli says he received for felling Kimbo Slice.

I know I'm attached to this like a pitbull but I think this is a bigger deal than people think.

PRIDE aside, MMA has been free of such nonsense.

I can't kill the guy too much, he is just defending his company and his biggest draw but some of the things he says about Kimbo and his career are crazy.

"He has all the talent in the world"

"What he has done this early in his career against this compe on is great"

What has he done exactly and who has he done it against??

He KO'd Tank Abbott who is 1-8 in his last 9 fights. Has not beat anyone legit in about a decade.

    He beat Bo Cantrell

career record of 10-11, lost his last 5 fights.

Barely Beat James Thompson bad ref stoppage

Career record of 14-9, just 2-7 in his last 9 fights.

Lost too Seth a good solid fighter with a decent record of fights. But he lost bad in 14 seconds. Nothing Kimbo has done is impressive. Nothing he has done suggests he has "All the talent in the world"

I agree Kimbo was a stain on the face of MMA and all the idiots that were "shocked" when he lost need to get a clue.

On the subject of the Seth Petruzelli claim that he was told 'no takedowns' before the Kimbo fight, Shaw said that he'd never heard anyone from EliteXC say that.

He also took on Las Vegas radio host Dave Cokin when he repeatedly said "Kimbo sucks, stop pushing him as a real fighter."

This keep getting worse...Now the Nelson vs AA fight has serious questions and I don't blame Affliction for a second.

“A quote from Kimbo… it is what it is,” said Nelson in an interview with MMAWeekly.com about the stand up. “The thing is I had a Kimura and I let the Kimura go to go to side control to go get the mount. As soon as I let go of the Kimura to go into side control where I could just basically make Andrei work a little bit more, and just kind of tire him out, and make him feel the weight. As soon as I did that, first thing they did was stand me up.”

Nelson wasn’t the only fighter on the card that night to question the refereeing. During an appearance on MMAWeekly Radio, EliteXC welterweight champion Jake Shields also mentioned that shortly after taking Paul Daley down in their fight, just as he was transitioning to mount, the referee was warning them to keep busy or the fight would be stood up.

According to Nelson, he also heard about the referee situation from Shields, but added that he doesn’t feel that was the real problem he was facing when challenging a popular fighter like Andrei Arlovski.

“Jake was telling me about it, but the difference between me and Jake is they wanted Jake to win,” Nelson commented.

In the end, Nelson feels the referee situation adversely affected his performance and while the overall experience soured him to those particular referees, he’s open to returning to EliteXC.

“I felt like I was fighting two people,” Nelson said about the referees last Saturday night. “I would fight for Elite, it all depends where we’re fighting at and who’s the ref. If we were fighting in Vegas, and I know the refs and they actually know what a Kimura is, that kind of makes for a big difference. Cause the reason they’re telling me to work for a better position and you’ve got someone in a submission, usually they have to get out.”

Still the overall situation could go even deeper because the former IFL champ says that Arlovski may have had prior knowledge about their fight, giving him more time to prepare.

“We were having dinner afterwards and Andrei’s guys were coming over and they were just talking about how they had been studying me and watching film and stuff and they’ve been doing it for over three weeks, and I was like, ‘huh?” Nelson stated. “And I didn’t say anything to them, but it makes you kind of wonder, three weeks? I thought you were on the same (one) week plan that I was? When you see all the politics all unfold and that made it very interesting.”

I know. I just dont think that mattered because Nelson had Andrei against the cage but just held him. As I recall he didnt try to advance or anything. Yes that would be wrong, but I just dont think it affected the fight outcome.

But what is the reasoning to hide it from Roy before the fight?

I guarantee somewhere tom atencio is effing livid about this.

I don't think there was a ton of options -- he was the most likely candidate after everyone knew Barnett was out.

I agree....but why was Arlovski given 3 weeks notice who he was fighting and Roy 1?

That alone is not that big of a deal...but with everything else....

The thing is, all these people that say he was this "Bad-Ass street-fighter" lets clarify that. For anyone that has not seen his fights on youtube, there are rules to the fights. Basically it is just Kimbo in a fist fight. All these people are standing around that laid bets on it, and you can't take it to the ground, from what i saw you can't even kick and i know you can't throw knees. So it is just Kimbo standing there trying to punch his man until he quits or can't get back up. That is the extent of his fighting expertise before he went to MMA. Street fist fights, using almost no MMA skill against any bum they could find. The one guy he fought in a fist fight, that had some MMA training and fought once in the UFC was a guy named Sean Gannon and guess what, he lost that fight. You can see it on Youtube. It is not like Kimbo, had world class wrestling like Brock than went into MMA. The Dude can't fight, he just can't.

Yep, check out his fights on youtube. Tell me how many kicks you see or if anyone ever goes to the ground?? The guy had very limited skills long before he even started training in MMA

I'll do that this weekend. I have never seen one of his fights but I have seen a couple stills. Were his opponents already picked or was the spur of the moment picks real?

If you think Seth’s second statement was a big contradiction of his first get a load of this:

Seth was interviewed by sam caplan:

Sam Caplan: Would you have received a bonus had you submitted Kimbo?

Seth Petruzelli: Yes. There were submission bonuses, knockout bonuses, and a "Fight of the Night" bonus — just like the UFC does it. They just want an exciting fight no matter where it goes.

Sam Caplan: Did the submission bonus pay the same as the knockout bonus?

Seth Petruzelli: Yes. Every bonus is the same.

    (source: http://fiveouncesofpain.com/2008/10/...ive-interview/ )

Now Josh Gross just interviewed Jeremy Lapen:

EliteXC, it seems, does not view submissions, widely thought of as the most technical aspect of MMA, as an overly important portion of an exciting fight.

"We don’t give submission bonuses," Lappen said. But Petruzelli "knew a knockout bonus was possible before the fight."

    (source: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200...x.html?eref=T1 )

Benji Radach confirmed on sherdog radio:

"No, not at all," Radach said, when asked whether Elite XC officials ever mentioned knockout, submission, or fight of the night bonuses, before or after the event. "I wish there was a bonus because I think my fight was really exciting, maybe fight of the night or knockout of the night. But nope, I never heard anything."

Sounds like Seth is taking his back tracking a little too far.

He had a crew that came along with him and they knew who he was fighting. They all laid bets on Kimbo to win of course. I guess it was just anyone who would challenge Kimbo to fight, and they'd get some money if they could beat him. But like i said, it was really just a fist fight.
