    FIRST QUARTER

    The Spurs gave some of their young players early game time as they finished the first quarter tied with the Rockets 22-22.

    Spurs guard Devin Green and center Darryl Watkins scored two points each shortly after hitting the court.

    Tony Parker made four of his first five shots and Fabricio Oberto made his first two shots. The Spurs and Rockets were tied 14-14 at the first timeout.

    Spurs starters: Tony Parker, Roger Mason, Ime Udoka, Matt Bonner and Fabricio Oberto. Former Spur Brent Barry started for the Rockets, along with Rafer Alston, Ron Artest, Luis Scola and Yao Ming.

    PREGAME

    Spurs veterans Tim Duncan, Bruce Bowen and Michael Finley are sitting out tonight's preseason road game against the Houston Rockets. They are healthy.

    Three other Spurs - Kurt Thomas, Ian Mahinmi and Salim Stoudamire - are out with injuries. Rockets veterans Tracy McGrady and Shane Battier are out.

    The Spurs open the preseason tonight on the road against the Houston Rockets.

    In addition to some of the core players who have been the key to the Spurs' success in recent seasons, there will be some guys we've never seen before wearing the Silver and Black. That group includes rookies George Hill, Malik Hairston, Anthony Tolliver and Charles Gaines.
