yup. Purely standup, but no kicks and knees. It was ALL punching rules.
Any video of the Gannon fight is very bad quality. But yeah i figured Kimbo's street fights has rules because they went crazy when sean got him in a standing guillotine and tried to clinch.

Now they are openly admitting to manipulating fights on one hand and not the other.
“It disgusts me,” White said. “I’ve been busting my (expletive) for 10 years flying all over the planet to show everybody what a great sport this is and what amazing people are involved in it. Then CBS throws this guy who fights at people’s barbecues on the main event because they’re trying to compete with us, and he gets knocked out in (14) seconds by a guy who didn’t win ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ and couldn’t fight in the UFC. Then the guy turns around the next day and says, ‘The promoters actually paid me to not go to the ground with this guy. They paid me to stand up,’ which I’m pretty sure is illegal.”
“Do I think that’s unethical? No,” Shaw said. “Because in MMA, you get bonus money for a knockout. I don’t see it as unethical . . . asking him to be TV and fan friendly.”Gary Shaw:
But Elite XC consultant Gary Shaw said he wouldn’t hesitate to “go to a fighter and say, ‘We’re looking for a stand-up fight.’ You’re not asking him to throw a fight. You’re talking about a fan-friendly fight, not about protecting Kimbo.”Jared Shaw:
“Why in a million years would we ask Seth to not take Kimbo down? That’s crazy. That’s all Kimbo’s been working on is the ground game. Ken Shamrock, 84 percent of his wins are submission and through the ground, so Kimbo was ready for the ground. If anybody knows Seth Petruzelli, he’s a K-1 fighter, I wouldn’t want him standing. So to say ‘don’t take him down,’ that’s ridiculous.”

"I watched the tape back today," Shaw told MMA Rated. "My reactions at ringside... were inappropriate and inexcusable."
"I apologize to the MMA community and the fans and most of all Seth Petruzelli as, although my reactions can not change a referee's decision, they were inappropriate at the time."
It is not the first time that Shaw has been accused of showing favouritism towards Kimbo Slice.
When Slice fought James Thompson earlier this year, Shaw was seen shouting for the referee to "stand them up" as Slice was on the bottom and taking damage.
nothing wrong with what shaw did it's obvious without kimbo his company is ed
inestigation is on

Because of the whole KO of the night bonus thing, they'll likely be able to spin it and not get caught with any actual proof of anything.
Problem is…they have contradicted themselves several times….everyone who has spoken has. Also…you have fighters coming out saying they had no idea there was any bonuses.
I think this is a much bigger problem that people realize.
And EXC has a event coming up in LV shortly.
I think they have reigned everyone in now though. These guys are not going to want to go down as rats who spilled the beans. Whatever happened, it went down likely verbally. I doubt there are any signed contracts that state any improper doing. So that is why i don't think they will get caught.
Doesn't matter though.
What's said is said clearly as day in interviews from head personnel. This really shouldn't be taken lightly at all (not saying you are mind you) what we have here is the first MMA organization who has hit main stream had an abonination in May with a fight fixing scandal shortly thereafter. That will have a huge impact on how this sport is covered for a long time. Make no mistake that MMA has taken several huge steps back thanks to a boxing promoter.
And don't think Zuffa is all over Keith Keizer in Nevada who heads the NSAC. Do you know who Marc Ratner is? He is the tall skinny older guy with glasses you see at weigh-ins. He is the former head of the NSAC so they have all kinds of leverage.
A lot of fall out behind the scenes will happen from this.
If enough neg. PR is done discussing fixing fights, people will drop this organization fast.
EXC did not make or spend a dime for that fight.

They have to be able to prove something for this to have any legs Evan. All they have now is talk. This guy said this on one day, then said something else on another day. It doesn't amount to much of anything. You need some actual hard evidence of something. Even if he was offered extra cash to stand, they have to prove it. If this was all verbal, that is where it will likely die. And if MMA can survive horrific judging, where people were screaming the fights were rigged, then this i think will just go away soon as well.
Zuffa can be all over whoever they want. Unless they get their hands on a paper trail or something other than Seth and EXC officials changing their story, it's not likely going to matter.
Of course it will matter. UFC strong armed Affliciton out of Nevada and forced them to move to California. You have to be able to make money in Vegas to live. Vegas is the biggest paycheck for an org.
Lagging ticket sales didn't help of course........
You seem to think I believe they will be prosecuted or something? No no no...no way...of course not. Its a slim chance but I doubt it.
My entire issue is legitimacy of a organization and perception with the general sports public.
And LV can ban them for whatever reason they please. They are not a court of law.
They'll get legitimacy if they sign some bigger names and put on some great fights. If o gets somewhat healthy and fights Frank Shamrock, that will get asses in the seats. Over-Pay for a few guys from the UFC and match them up. If they want to get in the game they are going to have to hang in there and take their lumps. Right now this is the freshest thing on everyone's minds, mainly because Kimbo got -Slapped and Seth ran his mouth. EXC doesn't sound like they are worried about it or that they are folding up their tents anytime soon. I expect an investigation, a bunch of denials and it goes away by their next show.
If they were putting on a card that was going to sell the joint out and got mainstream interest the UFC would not be forcing anyone out. They can act like bullies when nobody cares what you are putting on in the first place.
There is no way this is gone by Nov 8th.
And in case you missed this a few up
EXC did not make or spend a dime for that fight.

ever see him fight gannon? kimbo got choked out
Yeah i mentioned that
So clarify for me what you are saying. Are you saying that EXC is dead in the water or will be soon because of financial problems and this scandal?? I don't think this scandal will amount to much of anything, you seem too. If they can put on some big fights with legit MMA fighters that is what will get them out of the red. But are you saying that will never happen?
That EXC tried to fix a fight.
There is no other way to put it. They were trying to fix a fight. This is a huge black eye on MMA. Make no mistake about it. EXC is in the public eye…. even my mom knows they exist. So the first MMA org to make it main stream is now in a fight fixing scandal. Yee -f*cking haw…. yay Shaw's. EXC was so dead set on Kimbo winning Shaw as ring side screaming in misery that his Willy Wonka chocolate bar wrapper was fluttering away. Proof is everywhere…especially since Gary has admitted it and nobody can keep their story's straight.
What do I think it will amount to? Massive mistrust by the masses that MMA is a legit sport. Do you not think that is a big deal? People already stupidly compare MMA to the WWF and shady side of boxing…and here's proof they are right in a way. Thank God none of them know PRIDE used to do this or it would be worse.
And probably deeper problems in the already sinking EXC who did not make a dime from this fight and is in the red.
Lets not forget that Roy Nelson was told both he and Arlovski had 1 weeks notice for this fight and it turns out that Arlovski was given 3. Not that big of a deal but its more proof that they want specific out comes. I can't blame them for wanting outcomes…who doesn't…but you can encourage them because.that.is.fight.fixing.
