But are they really the only greedy ones, if you listen to KSAT they are saying they are the only ones whose carriage agreement has expired, which implies the same thing will happen when other stations carriage agreements expire.

The thing I dont understand is why doesnt another ABC affiliate step in, is there like certain coverage areas that are assigned? Here in Austin KXAN (NBC) pulled out and certain areas around Austin are getting either the San Antonio affiliate, Waco, and Fredericksburg NBC stations. Sucks for most of Austin though because we cannot get either or.

It certainly is, and since each side of the story is saying the exact opposite thing, who knows who the is telling the truth.
I do have to disagree with the notion that Time Warner Cable customers bills won't increase as a result of these negotiations.
If Time Warner currently isn't paying a fee for retransmission, and they begin to, who does KSAT think will pay for that?
If they were to ask what LIN asked for, which is a penny per day per subscriber, and let's say Time Warner has 250,000 subscribers out of a population of 1.3 million (and that could be an overestimate on my part) but let's use those numbers anyway:
That comes out to 900,000 a year, if all three networks ask the same that's 2.7 million a year, does anyone here think Time Warner is just going to eat that?
