God damn, PM5K added more pics to his sig.
I'm going to freaking lose my mind!!
PM5K, PM me those pics.
There are Carl's Jrs at
6588 FM 78

Glad they are coming back. It's not a trip to Cali without a stop at a Carl's Jr. They still don't have any near Austin.
Back OT, the best thing about TCs is decent and reasonably priced Margeritas. Most of their food is semi-nasty at best.

I have been back a few years and I have eaten once from there. But when I lived on the East Coast (Virginia and Jersey) I would have killed for Taco Cabana. Not because it was Taco Cabana, their food is just so-so, but because it would have been closer to authentic Mexican than anything I could get there that wasn't made in my own kitchen (when you could even find comino or Mexican oregano that wasn't $1000 per half ounce or something).
Seriously, I went to this one place that promised authentic food. They brought chips with this "white Mexi Sauce" that was basically mayo with garlic. Their chicken fajitas were breaded (!?) and the tortillas were the store-bought crap.
To top it off, the salsa was made in New York City.
I lived in Northern Wisconsin for a about a year...worst year of my life. On our drive to the new house (now the house we live in) we stopped at three places 1. HEB 2.Bill Millers for tea and 3. TCs for bean and cheese tacos. It was the worst year of our lives.
I don't know about mailing TCs, but mailing some tamales would definitely be in order during the Christmas season.
New York City?!?
Get a rope.
It doesn't have to be the best food to remind you of home.
There was a time when I lived in Cleveland I would have sucked a fire hot Cheeto from Tpark's ass for a taste of a Fajita taco form Taco Cabana.
I know the feeling..............this one time, at band camp.................
I would have let Boy George tea bag me for 72 hours straight for a potato and egg taco on a rainy Monday morning here in Fargo North Dakota.
I hate how they put onions in the cheese enchiladas. Not everyone likes onions. And it's not like you can ask no onions since they make them with f'ing onions. WTF.
I love TC though.
Taco Cabana has awesome chicken fajitas, and pretty good beef. Plus, chorizo&egg or barbacoa at 3:00AM is badass.
Guacamole is great on anything. You could make a Big Mac taste good with decent guacamole.
That kicks ass.
This guy knows what hes in talkin about![]()
Yeah I'm not a guac fan but my friends that like it say that its fantastic.
I kinda liked the Jalapeno burger I had a couple months back
The reason Guacamole has a bad reputation is most places use artificial Guacamole from a 5 gallon bucket. My sister worked for Hardy Burgers in the 80s. The white people moving to San Antonio couldn't get enough of that . it was like liquid crack! They wanted on their fries and on their french toast it got crazy, It wasn't until they were broken into and only the 5 gallon buckets were missing that anyone knew how bad it really was.
And the ones who use real Avocados? they don't let them get ripe and they add onions and .
That is why a fresh large avocado and a sharp knife is all you need. You eat your meat and carve away the Avocado as needed. I found that out in Chicago when i ate some puerto rico food in the Latin King part of town.
The Avocado looked like a melon it was so big and very sweet. just thinking about that day I get a wet spot...........................on my tongue.
I ordered deep fried pork chops with fluffy Mexican rice that would make uncle Beans pappy roll in his rickety old grave.
So before you dismiss Guacamole go buy some huge Avocados let them get real soft put them in a bowl with 1/2 lime juice and some salt (maybe a hint of cilantro) and eat.

How would you make guacamole without onion? That would be pretty bland.
I can't stand onions, so I always make it without. Just perfectly ripe avocado, garlic powder, kosher salt, lime juice, and a tiny bit of Pico Pica Taco Sauce.
Guacamole = mash potatoes in English. It's just smashed Avocados. it was up to the person at the table to add fresh onio garlic or tomato, it was the white man that decided to add it all together. Those muther fukers introduce sour cream to the Mexican plate! what the ? No one saw that coming.......
The Mexicans sold out big time, forget the Alamo................
No way! No cilantro nor chiles? Craziness.
Cilantro, meh.
Cilantro tastes like soap, but maybe thats just me.
I love Taco Cabana, especially the slasa bar, wish we had it here in Oz.
If I had a few million bucks I'd bring it here, because half-decent tex-mex is hard to find over here.
My guacamole recipe:
2 ripe avocados
1 sm-med spanish onion, chopped VERY fine
1 shot lemon juice
1/2 shot lime juice
6-12 shakes Tabasco sauce (depending on how hot you want it)
a little salt and fresh pepper
mmmmm...
