Dogg Pound Gangsta, would you rather Manu be in a Satanic cult and have avoided the question or be atheist and answer the question as he did? Pick one.

    Thanks.

I would rather him be a good person no matter what he believes. I do not even care that he answered the question personally. I just caught me off guard that he even decided to answer it on a public forum when he can pick and choose what questions to answer.

    That didn't answer the question . . .

I am using common sense. It is called using parallels. Josh Howard is a famous person, so is Manu. They both play in the NBA. They both discussed sensitive subjects on public forums. They both opened themselves up. Just because one may be "worse" than the other does not mean they have nothing in common.
I think you analyze things too much.

Then why should he follow his " I'm not a believer" with " that doesn't mean I'm right and you are wrong. I respect all religions"?
Because if you are deciding to open yourself up, you must be careful not to offend anyone. People have to be ultra "PC" these days, it sucks, but it just is that way. I do not think he gave a bad answer, I just was surprised he even answered it. "Do you watch DVD's? Yes I do", "Do you use TIVO? In the USA I do, but not in Argentina", "Do you believe in God?, No, I do not believe". See how it does not fit. It just surprised me.

Something being a sensitive subject by nature, doesn't mean that every comment about it will get the same level of reaction, positive or negative. I would say that I disagree with your argument that the thread is what it is because of the nature of the subject. At least, not entirely.
I agree. I never said that he would be crucified (no pun intended) for it. I just though it was odd that he would be so open because most people that are famous are not.

No, but you're kind of stretching the importance of the parallels in this particular instance. Howard's comments, and the way in which they were stated, are far more inflammatory and likely to cause outrage than the way in which Manu stated his.
I agree. Does not mean that Manu's comments could not cause some stink. I was not even trying to come off like I thought he really messed up. I was just saying I would be surprised if he was that honest. Then blew up.

    Guys, what is the problem?
He doesn't kill anyone, ...Should he hide his thoughts in this mater? why?
He simply say , like many young people in Argentina, and many people in earth, that he is not a believer.
Give me a break!I think that it is thousand times worst to be a believer of those who lies to takes you to kill each other (war).

If you are implying that someone is in a satanic cult and killing people than obviously being an atheist and answering the question is far greater because no one would get hurt. He might catch some flack, but that would not mean he is a bad person.

I do not care what he BELIEVES as long as he is a good person in the way he ACTS. I think Manu is a very good person no matter what (from the little that I know about him). All I was saying was that the question caught me off guard and I was surprised he choose to answer it.

No question. It should not be a big deal, but too often people try to oppress others that do not believe what they do. Just like you are not supposed to discuss religion or politics over dinner, I just thought it was weird he answered that question considering all of the other questions were so light-hearted.

Thanks for the translation. This is too funny:

What car do you own these days? How much did it cost?
I'd rather not talk about it.

Do you remember your worst drunkenness? When and where? How do you ended up?
Jeje What a delicate matter. I think it was celebrating a championship in Italy but, coincidentally enough, I don't remember very well! ;-)

He won't talk about his car or being drunk because it is "delicate". LMFAO

There is a dangerous theory I read here. One must stay in silence in matter of religion , be cautiousbecause there is a lot of religious nuts....
Please do not let the nuts decide what you can say!

DPG21920, I don't know what planet you fell from, but since when exactly expressing your religious belief or lack thereof is regarded as 'sensitive'?
Wait, God gave us free will to say and do as we please, but NOT if you're a superstar in the limelight?

I'm going to tell you that's a very common thing here in the US, but back down south, that whole 'being politically correct' stuff carries a lot less weight. Maybe it's a cultural thing.

That is why I said "implying". The common understanding is that Satan is "evil". Evil usually refers to murder, lying, stealing....

I am from Texas. Live in Texas. I am not saying that you should live your life in fear. I am saying that because in today's day in age with all the media coverage and how fast things can spread because of the internet, you must really be careful when discussing things that people view as sensitive.

Yes, no one cares what El Nono says, but when Manu speaks, people listen. I do not care that he answered. I was just saying I was surprised he did so straight-forwardly. Especially because the questions were not serious until that point. It is also funny how he said his car he would not like to discuss and that drinking was a "delicate" subject?

You are just twisting and contorting things. Yes God lets you do what ever you want, but that does not mean people cannot do bad things or that bad is relative. There are universal human rights no matter what you believe.

My cat just in her litterbox, got out, looked at me, and meowed. That limited performance, just seconds ago, exceeded your debating skills.

You missed the point, I think. I didn't want to open the box of worms that is the "Can the Judeo-Christian God be truly benevolent if He allows Satan to humans over?" question, and the urge to do so depleted my Shatnerian reserves.

If Manu won't answer a question about his car or drinking because they are delicate, then that proves my point that people must censor to a certain degree what they say. I was just surprised he even answered the question. NOTHING ELSE.

I get what you were saying. But that is a whole other argument about religion. This was about being surprised that someone would answer a "delicate" question such as religion in such a light-hearted forum and then decline to answer about cars and drinking.

The thing here is that most argentinians don't care about other's religion as many americans do, I mean... if you are famous and decide to openly declare yourself catholic, atheist, jewish... that is a personal deal...and something that won't really change the general perception of an "idol" such as Manu, that's also why he speaks so freely about his beliefs.
