JVG would be great in the studio with Ernie Kenny and Charles.
Finally! Someone I enjoy listening to on ESPN.![]()
i like hearing Bill Walton for entertainment purposes....
TNT>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>ESPN w/o Magic
TNT>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>ESPN w/ Magic
Another joke analyst to a station full of them. It was meant to be.
Btw...JVG in the studio with Chuck and Kenny would be the Dream Team.
I never understood Magic's role on TNT. Outside of a few selected appearances, he was hardly ever there anyway.
Magic is awesome person, but he dragged the show down when he was on with Ernie, Kenny, and Charles. I wish TNT would fire Collins now; ESPN's ingame announcing core of Breen, Jackson, and Van Gundy absolutely destroys Albert/Collins (not Marv's fault though; he's top notch).
I'd love to have Walton back. He's the funniest color guy in any sport. You really had to see him back in the day when he did color for the Clippers and talked crap about Olowokandi all the time to truly appreciate how funny he could be.
I normally think he's giving me a direct order and my gf and I normally would F after he said that, so yes...after an overtime game I have F'd 133 times.
Nah, Magic was a waste of space and I never really listen to ESPN broadcasts anyway so it didn't matter. See: the success of "The Magic Hour".
The one time that sticks out is they were playing the Spurs on a monday or tuesday night.
Olowafatass has a HUGE first half, like 15 and 8.
The whole first half Walton proclaims him "the next Jabbar and Russel in ONE!!!"
Second half, Duncan and Robinson just obliterate the re sending him to the bench clueless and rattled all the while Walton sits there calling him "The greatest mistake an organization could ever make and not have to fold because of it."
Walton was AWESOME on Clipper broadcasts.
"Boris Diaw is the most brilliant man alive. He can write a symphony, pen a classic novel, construct a missile, cure cancer... the man can do it all! He's simply unbelievable." Bill Walton, 2006
"Boris Diaw is the biggest letdown of my life. I couldn't be more depressed at this moment. Unbelievable..." Bill Walton, 2007
In the dictionary, under "Addition by subtraction" this press release is the example.
Agreed.
Magic was the wet blanket that would bring down the other three.
Agreed X 2.
I can't stand Collins. His voice is horrible, he deceptively doesn't know that much and he makes a broadcast all about him instead of the game. I was happy when it sounded like he had the Bulls job ... but alas, it was just more Collins BS.
And yeah, Marv is fantastic.
Agreed X 3.
Walton is hilarious if you don't take every comment seriously. If you are uptight and expect a color commentator to hold your hand through a broadcast, I can see why some people don't like him.
Walton lives in the moment. He's a caricature of sports fans, which some sports fans may have a hard time appreciating. When a guy shoots an airball and his teammate catches it and lays it in, he yells "What a pass!"

Van Gundy Signs Five-Year Deal With ESPN
Oct 14, 2008 10:08 AM EST
Former Rockets coach Jeff Van Gundy inked a five-year contract with ESPN on Monday, according to a report in the Houston Chronicle.
Van Gundy has been linked to coaching roles over the off-season, with many believing that he may return to the sidelines after another season off.
“That’s good for me,” Yao Ming said. “Not as many people will know how to defend me.”
NOOOOOOOOO! Why Jeff? WHY???? You're better than that.
Kevin Harlan is my personal favorite announcer he always gets me pumped, especially when he says [B]"With no regard for Human Life!"
Watch this for an example:
JVG makes the ESPN/ABC games fun. If he's not there, God knows who they'd put in that position.
Magic does not bring much to the table. He is bias. He is and will always be a LAKER.
I love Van Gundy, and I'm glad to see him signed long-term at ESPN. You could tell he was never happy coaching, but he's like a different person behind the mic. He's a of a coach, but I think he's even better doing color. I love seeing a real expert on the panel; kind of like Hubie Brown a few years ago.
One less person for Barkley to talk too, now he'll really be getting drunk before telecasts.
