What's the point of this thread?
DO you mean the top 3 players fighting for the 15th roster spot?
For me, it's Watkins, Hairston, and Farmar in that order. Hope at least the first 2 make it.
I'll admit I still don't know a whole lot about Farmar, but for me he is an easy pick over Tolliver and Green at this point, though to be fair I think Green and him could be switchable withought anyone noticing.

Yes. And obviously I'm bored out of my mind right now. Football(college or NFL) just doesn't captue my interest like the NBA does.
And aren't there two spots open currently?
So lets list all the players in order of who you most want to make the team to least.
Duncan
Tim, Manu, Tony, Mason, Bowen, Ime, Hill, Ian, KT, Watkins, Finley, Hairston, Farmar, with Bonner, and JV as 14th and 15th.
Realistically speaking, I know that not Farmar, Watkins, and Haitston will all make the opening season roster, but since Manu is the auto 15th man right now, maybe that opens up a spot for Farmar or Hairston. I haven't used Salim, cuz I have no idea as to his capabilities, and I think he is too undersized.
Yeah but even in these preseason games the Spurs at times are struggling to make shots apart from Tim and Tony. Stoudamire can hit shots I would not count Stoudamire out. Spurs need guys to hit shots. It's that simple.
No way Watkins makes this team. He is way too raw.
And he has studs like Bonner, Ian, Fab, and KT to keep him off. I'd like Pop to get a little crazy and go young and raw over experienced and over-the-hill for a change.
The Spurs might chose not to go with 15 players. They might ship Watkins and Hairston to the Toros and save themselves from paying them until and if they need them.
That would be a good idea. You don't want to waste roster spots this early and lock someone in.
I don't believe Darius was locked in when we cut his azz early in the regular season last year. Not all contracts are fully guaranteed, I believe.
I do believe thats why we purchased a team in Austin.
For the record, I want to see Watkins and Hairston make the roster.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but if the Spurs ship these two down, wont they still "eat up" 1 roster spot each? Of course, the Spurs could then risk losing them to some other team.
I'd have to see them play before I guessed.
By the way, Desmon Farmer (like a farmer with cows and chickens) not Farmar (like Jordan Farmar).
I'm sorry, masta.I can settle for Hairston and Watkins going to the D-League, but Ian better be the #2 big man by the end of the season. When is Fab's/KT's contract up?
They are both signed through next season (2009-10).
Mahinmi sucks ass. Unfortunately he can't stay healthy long enough for you to see how bad he is.
tlongII...what's the update on Rudy Fernandez' ankle? How about Martell's stress fracture?
True, although if the Spurs waived Hairston the Toros could pick him up as a free agent like they did with Marcus Williams. It's a "benefit" of being a second round pick. He could be called up by any NBA team like Williams too.
If Watkins is waived, the Iowa Energy would have the rights to him in the D-League.
C- Thomas, Oberto, ?
PF- Duncan, Bonner, Mahinmi
SF- Bowen, Udoka, Hairston
SG- Ginobili (IR), Finley, Mason
PG- Parker, Hill, Vaughn
I think that is the roster with Tolliver and Watkins fighting for the 6th big man spot. Also, Hairston is by no means a lock, but I think the Spurs will want him to play for the Toros. If Hill and Mahinmi are good enough to play for the Spurs, then Hairston would be the only prospect playing for the Toros. If the Spurs are struggling and Hill and Mahinmi are contributing, will they get time in Austin? Or will they stay in the bigs? It all depends on if they are any good.
