Might as well go ahead and get a thread going for tonights game. The game is an early game...6pm..and is showing up on my channel guide. I am at work right now but I believe it is 561 for Dish. Just check channels 560-570 and it should be there.

Everyone has now had a couple of games to get the nerves/cobwebs out, so I expect to see the guys that are really going to work hard to earn a spot get out there and do it. As of right now Hairston will probably at least wind up with the Toros. He might actually get some active time while Manu is out. Its still a toss up with many of the other guys, but Pop has seemed to infer that Tolliver could be sticking around despite his shooting struggles through the first two games. Maybe he settles in and finds a grove tonight.

The two things I am looking forward to the most tonight are more of George Hill and a look at Finley 2.0.

Billups will be out w/ a sprained ankle, so expect to see a lot of Rodney Stuckey and Will Bynum! The PG matchups should be fun to watch.

Watch for Aaron Afflalo, already a good defender, he's been very solid this pre-season on the offensive end.

Also, I'll be curious to see how Amir Johnson's athleticism does against the Spurs frontcourt.

Considering the limited athleticism the Spurs have upfront to match, and assuming Duncan doesn't play much, as expected, I would expect Johnson to have a field day. That said, I hope that Watkins will have a fair opportunity.

Yeah, his athleticism should really stand out in this matchup.

However his lack of strength leads him to being knocked off the block alot. Weak side blocks he can do, running the floor on the break he can do, establishing position on either end of the court, he struggles with. I'm hoping Timmy plays decent minutes tonight to give him some much needed experience.

And for you Argentina fans, sorry to say that Hermann will not be playing. Bruised/sore ribs has kept him out for the last week or so.

I agree. Watkins has tools we really need in a backup big man. If he gets the minutes tonight he needs to play hard and smart to at least earn a long second look in upcoming games.

Amen. There is a definite need for a big who has these kinds of skills. His defense, rebounding and shotblocking ability would come in handy versus the suddenly bigger frontlines of the Western Conference. I don't want to see Tim trying to fend out these bigs by himself again this year.

IMO, Watkins has an inside track on a roster spot - especially with Ian out the entire preseason. Of course, my opinion doesn't count for squat.

He has made mistakes too though...which is why I stress that he must play smart tonight and in upcoming games. He has had 2 blocked shots in each game and has altered others with his defense, but he also has 9 turnovers. Thats a pretty big number. Continuing to give the ball up at his current rate will most certainly negate anything good that he does in the eyes of the coaching staff.

For everyone who has really seen Watkins in action, how doe he lose the ball, is he trying to post up and constantly get stripped, or what? And I am PISSED OFF that it seems as if Tolliver is guaranteed, the Spurs already have him in Bonner. There is no one proven with Watkins skills as of right now, till we see what Ian can do withserious NBA minutes.

I agree about Tolliver. We shouldn't have both he and Bonner on the same team. This situation seems to be headed towards more doghouse politics.

Personally, I would prefer they keep Tolliver and ship out Bonner. At least Tolliver can do some other things - like play defense and seemingly is an intelligent player. Bonner hustles, but just seems to be a wild-ass, who is a turnstile on defense.

Is Bonner in the last year of his contract? I'm just trying to figure out which team would actually want to take him off our hands, especially considering that Isiah Thomas is no longer a GM who takes everyone's garbage.

Tolliver is most definitely an upgrade. He shows good anticipation on his rebounds and he has made some nice plays that show his good basketball IQ, i.e. the post up give and go he ran with Hairston that led to one of Hairston's throw downs. Bonner would have probably bricked a jump hook in that situation.

The situation is Bonner himself. We still owe him over 6mil between this season and next season. It's going to be incredibly difficult to move him. Unless the FO already has some ideas they are entertaining I don't know what is going to happen. Surely they don't plan on keeping him and Tolliver both on the roster.

The link says the content is mature, I'm at school and don't want to open it. Can someone confirm that its the game because these type of things are monitored rather closely at my school.
