Both Finley and Mason not playing tells me one or two of the wings will get waived soon after getting their last exended look.

Green and Gaines (though he's not a wing)

    First half thoughts:

-Duncan looking good. He's not even trying and has 10 and 8 at half

-Hill looked REALLY good to start off the game. He's leveled out a bit but still looks promising. He's already won the backup point guard job.

-Desmon Farmer is a fearless scorer. He might be too small to make it but he's giving it a good try.

-If Tolliver could hit at least 40%, he's going to make the team and probably beat out Bonner for playing time. The problem is his jumper is so shaky that 40% might be asking too much.

-Udoka has sucked in the preseason. I'm not sure what's wrong with him.

-As much as I like Vaughn as a leader, I'm still not convinced whether or not he should or will make the final roster.

Green and maybe Farmer. Hairston will likely last longer.

I agree Timvp, I would like to see Farmer make the roster (as much of a stretch that is) because he's aggressive and would be a good burst of energy to come off the bench and feed of Manu and Tony's penetration.

I'm still not convinced that Tolliver isn't just Bonner in costume.

i would think that vaughn is a sure thing to make the final roster. i dont see coach pop trusting the backup point position in the hands of a couple rookies.

George Hill is already the back up, Farmer has long odds, but is making them think, and Stoudamire might still put himself in the mix. Vaughn could get waived.

He trusted Beno and Hill is much more of a Pop player than Beno.

Nah, I too think that Pop would rather shave his beard that entrust the point to a few rooks.

As much as I'd like to get some more young blood into the rotation, Farmer especially.

I am wondering about Watkins also. My thoughts at the half...

Hill looks like he is ready for the back up role. He will still need some developing offensively but his defense is already there. Consider me convinced.

Hairston had his good moments...he had a nice defensive play on Prince blocking the ball out of bounds. That will definitely get you brownie points with Pop. He is our most complete swingman of the camp invitees.

Tolliver...ugh. Why can't you just be consistent? As timvp said, all we need is 40ish percent from you and Bonner is on the bus. If we go from right now, he has not done enough IMO.

Farmer and Green have had their moments but they just don't quite have what it takes.

In a recent interview, Pop was asked what he's looking for in a backup point guard. Pop's answer was "scoring". That's an odd thing to stay if Vaughn were still in the running, but it does explain why the Spurs went hard after Pargo.

That's like Pop saying he's looking for a backup point guard with an American name.
