    Absolutely.
And I can trace it when the oilmen pushed for this Alaska's woman to be on the ticket.
And you don't have to be a Nobel Laureate to understand why.
Yup, McCain went against his own better judgment and that in itself is cause to wonder.

Yeah because no doubt the Oilmen love Palin and the windfall tax on profits she hit their asses with.

You know more about Stem Cells...

Come on whottt, you have to admit that McCain caving in against his own judgment shows a lack of leadership.

Why would the Oilmen want Palin when there were so many better alternatives without a record of ass ing Oilcos like Palin has?(the only candidate in this election with such a record BTW).

Palin was selected to get the Pro-lifers(the only group on the right fantatical enough to run state and country level campaigns), the middle class, women and the pissed off Hillary supporters...

She's also one of the most charismatic politicians to come down the pipe in a while...

You don't see it yet, but you will on election day.

She's had more positive impact on a Presidential Campaign thany any VP selection in history...as evidenced by the RNC's record fund raising, appearance turnouts and TV ratings since she got the nod.

Anyone that thinks Palin was a stupid pick in terms of winning this election, is stupid.

That is true but the polls are also showing her initial excitement has dwindled and keeps going down the more she talks.
And if anyone can't see it wasn't the right move in the long run then they are stupid. Just plain stupid.

    it plummeted to 65%.

I bet not many politicians can pull that trick off...plummeting, and still having a 65% rating.

Did you know that 85% approval rating was one of the highest marks in history for any politician anywhere? And it had slumped...from over 90%.

Actually it's based upon beliefs, not a financial gain. I'm pretty sure intelligent minds want someone named not-Palin as responsible for this country.

During the administration of George W. Bush, vital parts of our country's scientific enterprise have been damaged by stagnant or declining federal support.

mccain thinks embryos and fetuses are the same thing. a true progressive.

he voted for a bill to block fetal farming even though there was no fetal farming.

The funniest thing about this letter is when they say "our country"...and I'd be willing to bet the majority of them aren't even from America....unless of course every Nobel Laureate of 2008 is American. Which I highly doubt.

Um...no offense, but you evidentally don't have a clue about the Stem Cell debate.

It was never about if States could or would fund Stem Cell Research...

It was about whether or not the Federal Government should fund embryonic Stem Cell Research. which included the production and harvesting of embryonic stem cells...and the destrction of human embryos in the process.

That's what the Bush admin was against...the Federal government funding the production and harvesting of embryonic stem cells which would result in the destruction of actual human embryos.

It's not an issue anymore...we now have the technology to extract embryonic stem cells without destroying the embryo. [/debate]
    1) You advance knowledge by doing reasearch.

    2) To do research you need money.

    3) You don't actually care whether that money comes from the Federal or the State government. Stem cells research is heavily funded in the US by State, as well as charities money. More so than elsewhere in the world. It is highly questionable that had the Federal government decided to fund Stem Cells research, California would have put all that money into it. So Bush's decision had limited impact.
    4) Even after the Yamanki experiments, the issue is far from over, as there are arguments against iPS=ES cells. You don't actually extract embryonic stem cells, you revert them from differentiated somatic cells.
    5) The ethical issues are very relevant, if the iPS -resulting from the reversion- can actually produce a human being. In fact, they are even more dramatic, because one can technically take his own cells, revert them back to embryonic-like, and use them to create another self.

Whott, not all people are obsessed by money.
Money is only important for those that don't have it.
These NObel laureates have no money problem whatsoever. They are people that are obsessed by their own brilliance, seldom by money.
    Take from an insider.

The list contains Laureates from before 2008 of course.

And yes a lot were NOT born in America.
Benacerraf in Venezuela, Dieserhoffer in bavaria, Capecchi and Giacconi in Italy, Jim watson and Ollie Smithies in England, Nambu in Japan, in Russia the first that come to mind.

    So what?
