Glad to hear your car is getting fixed.![]()
Verdict is in.
The dealer finally got a look at it on Friday and said they would stop doing all work if there were extra cracks or any hairline damage around the water pump or engine.
No damage to the engine, one of the girls from Progressive said there may have been damage there (had I said that before? I don't remember).
I just had the water pump replaced.
So, no the insurance did not pay for the repair (ended up being about $450...thank God for the savings account I have). But, they did agree to pay for the rental while it was determined who was at fault. So, hypothetically I could have been out the 10 days worth of a $30/day rental plus a $15/ day damage rental plus the repairs...so that's what? $900 and I only paid $600. Anyway.
Glad to hear your car is getting fixed.![]()
It's still a VW.
Geeezus it's about ing time! I would have thought they could had manufactured you another car by now.
No !!!!
$600 on a water pump and it took almost 2 weeks to do that. you got jacked, juggs.
I would have done it for free, all it would have cost you was your dignity......
I cant wait to hear what happens next.
$450 on the water pump, the rest was the rental. Get it straight!
that's why i spelled out "2 weeks". this should've taken 2 day tops, juggs. you get it straight.
Thats astronomically high but unfortunately its a result of these newer vehicles. More expensive parts and even more difficult to get to. Used to be able to change a waterpump in about an hour with minimal tools and very little disassembly. Now you have to remove half the engine bay to even locate some of these parts buried down in tight areas. These is why I don't buy new vehicles.
69 Camaro water pump 110 bucks and 2 hours to swap out. I'd take minor repairs over an expiring warranty any day.
corvette , camaro .....you sonof !
As much as I love my car I'd take a 69' Camaro over it any day of the week.
I guess you probably have a 78 trans am also ....
No but those are pretty cool too. I wouldn't own one though. Too much business going on under the hood.
I dated a spoiled little rich boy once, that had a '69 Mustang, Mach I. What a pricck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!![]()
69' Mach I is on my list. I will have one I have to have one.
Was this guy mexican with a mullet?
If it makes you feel any better, ashbeeigh, I just got slammed with an extra $700 in repairs/labor/maintenance on my car when I took it in to do an already expensive bit of maintenance in getting the timing belt replaced (the car has 124,000 miles on it, so that was past due).
I think this is karma biting me in the ass for having nothing wrong with it in 8 years.
Right after paying for a move, starting new utilities, etc. Fabulous timing.
that's lame. Sorry to hear that. It only goes up from here though huh?
I sure as hope so. I think they're doing everything they possibly can to it to minimize wear and tear on the major parts, and hopefully the car will last another 8 years. I'll probably need it to.
Oh, so get this one. I get a call from Enterprise this morning and the guy is a snot and a half (that's right). I answered the pnoe with my credit card in hand to pay the damage waiver because it was on my list of things to do today... but that's not why they called...they say "Hey we don't have the car back..bring it back." I was like "Look dude...my insurance guy said it was cool to leave it at the dealership and they would arrange to get it picked up...." and he was like "umm what? Well whatever the case is you owe me for two extra days...I don't have keys."
