Nice, a Hip-Hop thread. And thanx for the link to the free Slug album, I like it better than most of his recent ones. Not surprised all the Cali heads are in here. And I thought I was the only person that was still listening to the UMC's![]()

just picked up WLIB and Madvilliany 2: The Madlib Remix. Good Stuff - the remix Is a of a lot different! WLIB Is a Beat Konducta album.
MURS for President. Awesome freakin CD. Get it.
Also listened to the new People Under The Stairs, and didn't like it at all. 4 out of 10 ... maybe. Never heard of them before and figured I'd give it a whirl....bad decision.
Any of you familiar with "Common Market"? Thinking about getting their newest.
Anything else new out there I should look for?
Get the new common market now, it's un ingbelievable. Leauges above the last album and much better than his solo album. I haven't taken it out for a week.
Also check this, hiphop heads should dig it.
Artist: Skream!
It's dubstep and is some of the dopest beats I've heard. The uk is starting some nice new genres.
I liked the Murs cd. THere are some tracks that I can easily skip, but there are some real nice songs. Murs keeps his style consistent, and his ability for conversating his story raps into lyrical flows is great.
Not sure if Hip sounding instrumentals with ambiance is your cup of tea, but this cd "Los Angeles" by Flying Lotus is dope .

If you haven't already, I would recommend Wale "the mixtape about nothing" also. He is signed on Interscope and has great flow, and uses good concepts in his music. you can download it for free on the link below

Glad you recommended it. Definitely a good album.

Has anyone heard any thing lately on Detox? I keep hearing 4th qtr of 08'.... I'm getting ddamn impatient waiting for this. And I'm really hoping it's a 2 CD album. As long as it's been in production, and as many songs/artists rumored to have been recorded, there should be enough tracks for 3 or 4 CD's.
lol.... i have given up on DETOX... it might never come out
just because I needed some Ricky D
thanks for the Skream! Been listening to it since the day of this post it's very interesting. Besides that and, say Burial, any other dubstep you like?
sorry dude
Death Dance is no where near Personal Journals
blue eyez is my favorite song on skream.
Haven't found anything as good as skream but here are some others
Benga
Kode9 and space ape
Science faction: dubstep
Song of the Day, very fitting in this time period with the elections and economic turmoil:
Cunninlynguists - Dying Nation

"There's an old saying in Tennesse, I know it's in Texas, it's probably in Tennesse
that says fool me once... shame on... shame on you.
If you fool me you can't fool me again."
[SOS]
I live in a nation that relies on business and crime
And the leaders are politician guys livin' a lie
Who bull like everyone else for a nickel and dime
America ... just as corrupt as it is online
Using freedom and entertainment just to keep us sedated
But remember what the declaration of independence stated?
All men are equal and that's the way they're created?
But when that was written, black and white people were segregated
And this country still breeds racism, just not as blatant
To call us the land of the free is overstatement
Cause ain't NOBODY free. We all being watched quietly
National security's an invasion of privacy
Drug Trafficking, conspiracy, murder and piracy
What America can't have they take silently
Sometimes violently, open up your eyes and see
Even dirty money is supporting our economy
It's all backwards like negative split photography
But I guess that's the way it's got to be
United we stand on this land and we do all crimes
Facin' a Dyin' Nation ?
[Chorus]
"Facin' a dyin' nation. Listen to the retold lies" [x2]
[Deacon the Villain]
I live in a nation where it ain't what's physical that fights us
Now it's silent strikes from political insiders
A black market government where being criminal is righteous
Ran by bloodlines that were dirty before Isis
The crisis has even spread to spiritual infestations
Confessionals filled with sexual molestations
Professionals so set on capitalization
They don't notice their children freebasin' in their million
Dollar basements
Babies having babies in the hood I grew up in
Hands are too small for the guns that they be bustin'
Schools underfunded, graduates retain nothing
On Capitol Hll it's barely a topic of discussion
Kids like, why should I think about college
When this hood situation is holding me hostage
And even if I fought and bought the knowledge
I'd prolly get shot 41 times by a cop over my wallet
Shiiiiit.. So wherever you are
Don't inhale the second hand smoke from its victory cigar
Motivate yourself don't just stand on the side
Facing a dying nation and listening to the new told lies
[Chorus]
[Kno]
Somebody dial 9-1-1
It's mass confusion, mass contusions
At last we losin' Uncle Sam to a mass of tumors
And that's the rumor at least, it's soon to be seen
If its true that the beast is soon to decease
Catchin' blood clots in the crude oil
That runs through his veins and up thru his brain
Its tough to maintain
If he was low income he'd already been gone
Insurance paperwork gettin handled by Enron
And scandalous friends call to speak
Even Bill O'Reilly's wrapped in a hospital bedsheet
With a pointed hat, where the ointment at?
Wax the taxpayers backside for a tax hike
Woulda had a Catholic priest at his bedside
But they were too busy giving these Boy Scouts a leg ride
Temperature stay high but no pain
Cus the presidents Hooked on Phonics and cocaine
Product of old age and Alzheimers disease
Medical bills raised from all types of fees
Looks to the American people to show love
But his Social Security ran out - pull the plug
I'm digging Afro Warrior and Newstep by Benga, but Skream is better.
blue eyes is almost rootsy, i dig. but my favorite is prob rutten atm.
Brother Ali kills this track.

Ive been out of hip hop for a while. What is good out right now. I used to listen to Asop Rock, The Roots, Common, Mos Def, J5, Hieroglyphics, Del, Jayz, Dre.
Does anyone honestly know what the Aesop is saying?
