Did a final PPV buyrate ever come out for Affliction in July?
Finally got a iron clad date...
Yeah this is early but I am curious how to see this all shapes up. That thing isn't selling 120,000 buys.
Did a final PPV buyrate ever come out for Affliction in July?
Just those rumors we all heard about in the summer....80k to 140k with Tom claiming at least 100k.
Note all the affiliations at the top of the poster…between those and that payroll…how are they possibly going to make a dime with so much much money being split up?
While I maintain my stance that affliction is nothing but a commercial they are still a business and money must be made.
Question Evan
DO they really have to make any money on the fights themselves if the revenue they are getting from their merchandise sales is so good they can just put that back into the fights?? I mean you said that their merchandise has gone way up since they have so many promotional tie ins to the fight game now right?
I dunno….just guessing but I am sure its irrelevant where they make their money but losing 15 million on a fight to make 10 million in t-shirt sales is still losing 5 million. Plus you factor in the massive hassle of doing shows.
I have never said that.
Ehh Affliction won't stay long ...
As I can see same names every card and they are bringing old guys like Lindland ?
Bingo
They need to raid small gyms and develop fighters…who was it that said "There is no such thing as a Matt Lindland fan!"
Was it Rampage?
Well just clarify for me if you could?
"They just want to get there name out there on MMA sites as much as possible to sell their clothes. Think of how often they are talked about and think about how much they would have cost them in true commercial ads. Yeah Affliction MMA has probably gone in the red 7 million (just guessing) but they have probably gotten back 40 million in free ads and sales (another guess.)"
Just want clarification if i am misunderstandng something. If their merchandise sales are up through all the advertsing in the fight game or you can't say one way or another. You know more about this than me, not trying to start anything
Ah ok…I see.
No I stand by all of that. I think it’s a reasonable assumption. Now, I never said sales have gone up…the t-shirt bizness seems to be a fading fad. They were probably doing better when they were the unofficial t-shirt sponsor of the UFC.
Here's another nugget….I would bet everything I own that the UFC owns a piece of affliction wrapped up in a mountain of non disclosure agreements. They took on a piece of Zyience and CBS took on a piece of Pro-Elite so I guess its common practice.
Yup, they have absolutely no background.
Now with "Ultimate Fighter" UFC got great field for fighters to show up themselves. That was awesome idea and that can grow even faster in the world as the reality shows were everywhere and it is not that difficult to do such show.
Now in Poland well I'm awed there are so many fans and they have great knowledge about this sport and martial arts itself.
I wonder when teh expansion of that sport will stop. All in all boxing is now less popular then it was IMO. And that mostly because we have not much elite boxers and there are too many belts in boxing - what a .
Ofcourse money is the biggest problem in sports in Poland that why I think the expansion of this sport cannot be as great as people would love to.
You mean UFC?
You mean TUF?
It depends on country.
Well we have our own polish MMA league and many countrys as well (I guess).
UFC right now is in a position, well like and NBA. Many fighters would love to go there.
Ultimate ... is an UFC show. I think dana could go to many european countries to know what is going on there. I know he do not want to make it fast but he wants to make is steady. That gave him success - eating with a teaspoon not with hands!
thats a great point, thats the first thing i noticed too.
Until Fedor stops fighting cans I am always rooting against Fedor.
updated rumored card. You can probably wipe out 2 or 3 fights for being wrong or injury.
- Fedor Emelianenko vs. Andrei Arlovski
- Josh Barnett vs. Alexander Emelianenko <-NO WAY does this happen
- Tim Sylvia vs. TBA
- Vladimir Matyushenko vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira
- Matt Lindland vs. Renato "Babalu" Sobral or Trevor Prangley?
- Chris Horodecki vs. Dan Lauzon <- fight of the night possibly
- Gegard Mousasi vs. Vitor Belfort
- Paul Buentello vs. Roy Nelson
- Pedro Rizzo vs. Ben Rothwell
- Jay Hieron vs. Drew Fickett
- Jason High vs. Mike Pyle
Great card for the die hards but it means nothing to causal fans. I don't know what affliction needs to do but they won't get anywhere reaching out to die hards. The ones I bolded are the only ones that will ring a bell with casual fans IMO.
Come on Leonard, give us some breakdown big guy. What is your Key-Board Broken??
This main event fight has interesting ramifications.
If Arlovski loses his value plummets for when he comes back to the UFC. If he wins he is then the best HW and will shatter the bank. He has so much to gain.
Fedor. If he wins his value barely goes up since nobody will see the fight and if he loses his value bottoms out. Nobody will be willing to pay an obscene amount for an obscure Russian.
I have no idea…
Part of me thinks he isn't in the UFC already because of the confusion it would cause with the similarities.
