The real irony of it is that he used it as an example to Obama people that you shouldn't judge a candidate by the people who support him, probably because he was cheesed that the angry McCain supporters shouting "terrorist" were being too closely associated with McCain.
The irony made all the more delicious because it became instead an example of 1) how quickly Obama bashers will glom on to anything even remotely bad about Obama, and 2) just how desperate and deluded some McCain supporters are.

the whole thing i was trying to point out was the double standard that goes on with both sides with pretty much every single situation this election. if this had actually happened involving either campaign i would be disgusted at that individual. i wouldn't be lashing out at the victimized candidate or base, but i know people would spin it that way. and DR, i'm not a republican or partisan.
I was thinking about something along the lines of
"I saw it on Drudge report and hoped it was true".
