Sky News (British 24/7 news channel) is reporting a breaking news that the U.S. Government is saying they have disrupted a plot to assassinate Barack Obama (they are citing A.P.).
Any truth in that?

Its funny, a co-worker of mine already started talking about this scenario. She says, if Barack were to be assasinated, why wait until he wins the Presidency?
He'll never be more vulnerable then he is now. Unless of course one plans to use him as a martyr for another agenda...

If anything happens to Obama, we ABSOLUTELY ABSOLUTELY MUST protect Joe Biden.
IMO, I'd put the chances at an assassination attempt on Obama at around 30% or so.
Some racist nutcase, or some religous zealot who thinks he's the anti-Christ..., or some political nutcase who thinks he's the second coming of Stalin.
It's more than likely that there are already plots to kill him that haven't been found out. Whether they are actually able to attempt them is another story.

I'd like to have the same feeling. But given the substantial polarization of our society on matters of politics, the seemingly unprecedented rancor of our political discourse as a result of that divide, and the belief (by extremists on both sides) that a win in November by the other would have all sorts of bad consequences that might be avoidable by assassination, I actually fear that something will happen to whomever wins the coming election.

"from each according to his own ability ..to each according to his own need" ? cutting taxes for 95% when only 60% pay taxes -- that is not a tax cut - that is welfare and wealth redistribution.

No, I don't think that an alive Pres. Obama will be good for this country...but as bad as I think he'll be for the US, it'll be 10 times worse if he is assasinated.
