The poor buy groceries. Grocery store uses cash to pay property taxes and corporate income taxes. No property/income taxes, groceries cost less. In essence every customer of every business, is paying the taxes of the business.

This is outside of the way people normally think of things, but is an economic reality.

Same goes for the rent money, and all the other businesses up and down the chain.

Just because someone offers the emotionally appealing "poor people don't pay taxes, pity the rich who do" bits doesn't make it correct.
Even ignoring the portion of costs that pay for other people's taxes, you can end up paying way too much in taxes. $0.57/gallon. Nearly $2 on a pack of smokes. 8% on anything but groceries purchased (note, this is all in Texas, varies by state). Property taxes. Income Taxes. Payroll taxes. Government fees on vehicle registrations, telecommunications, utilities, etc. It's all rather insane and really adds up.

Then add in the affect taxes have on prices of goods and services and it just gets more insane.

Ah well, enough threadjacking for one day.

Take care, I have other things to do, than to show yet another vapid, overly emotional conservative why he is both illogical and immoral, despite his claims of moral supremacy.

The poor don't pay income tax...that is easily seen by filling out a tax calculator.
Go back and read through the thread, I have already addressed this.

Indeed it is. Not quite relevant to the discussion of whether or not the poor pay income taxes, but thanks for your input.
I think it directly answers what you have stated is the point of the discussion.

    *EDIT*
Anyways...I hope he doesn't get assasinated.

    So...let me get this straight.

You say that it's OK to tax the wealthy more because the poor pay more as a percent of their income to taxes than the wealthy do. If that is the case, why would you want to further INCREASE business taxes???? By your logic, wouldn't that just increase the indirect taxes on the poor???

And using your same logic, decreasing business taxes would decrease indirect taxes on the poor. Isn't that what the conservatives are always pushing for?

IMO, I'd put the chances at an assassination attempt on Obama at around 30% or so.

Some racist nutcase, or some religous zealot who thinks he's the anti-Christ..., or some political nutcase who thinks he's the second coming of Stalin.

No company can legally "elude" taxes. A good company will use good "tax planning" to pay as little as is legally mandated.

As long as people are paid for "tax planning" there will always be loopholes. Most of the time it is as simple as words such as "and" instead of "or" in the tax laws.

I am for loopholes, I'm not scared of saying it. Nor, am I scared that Obama will be able to come in and "close" all of the loopholes. It'll never happen because if they close one people like me will find another one.

Both individuals stated they would dress in all white tuxedos and wear top hats during the assassination attempt

I don't even know what to say to this.

MadHatter...answer a question for me. If you agree with RandomGuy's theory on the poor paying more taxes because businesses pass them off to the consumer, why would you support increasing taxes on businesses? Wouldn't that in essence increase the tax on the poor?

so an increase in taxes on people making $250k and on corporations isn't really an increase because they pass the tax increases down to the consumer.

and for a guy who doesn't know the difference between income taxes and capital gains taxes, you sure are one arrogant prick.

This thread is pretty freaking pointless. But I guess it's a good slice of the nuts we have in this forum. Gun nuts, anti-tax nuts, and greedy as nuts.

Personally...I could make do with a minimum amount of money and I don't care what the taxes are on my income. What I DO care about is that most of the tax money is wasted on bull like national defense and social security.

I don't give a about old people. Nor do I care about the national defense. There's no reason that almost fifty percent of our federal budget goes to these two programs when we have a horrible education system.

Nobody who makes more than 100K a year should ever complain about their taxes being too high. what I wouldn't give to make half that much a year. I'd be a happy man forever.
