Beno was pegged as the backup PG in the 06-07 season, and had every opportunity to hold on to that spot.

He's been coddled a of a lot more than Parker was, and still showed up that season unmotivated and out of shape.

Yeah I can admit he was lazy and he has only himself to blame for that, but the reason he was lazy because he wasn't happy in San Antonio because of the minutes he was getting, if Pop stuck by him and didn't replace with someone that is hopeless then Beno would of worked a lot harder. I don't know if you played the game but in order for you to play to your full potential you need to get consistent minutes, not get thrown in a dog house that can kill you career.

Blame Popovich for going in favor of Van Exel if you want. But don't absolve Beno of his mistakes the following season, and don't blame Vaughn for something he wasn't even with the Spurs to experience then.

You're implying that Popovich was only looking for excuses to not play Beno, when that wasn't true.

The backup PG spot was Beno's for the taking. Vaughn was the insurance policy. And Beno's uninspired play forced Popovich's hand.
