Oh, ! Carol Channing is next in line?![]()
"when we have a horrible education system."
good education systems, esp appropriate teacher salaries to attract qualified, motivated teachers to put up with asshole kids, cost big money, which require property taxes that people refuse to pay.
You pay peanuts? then expect to get monkeys.
Oh, ! Carol Channing is next in line?![]()
how do you know that?
do you have a crystal ball?
if something happened to him
the election would be on hold
Wanting to keep the money YOU EARN is greedy? Who's the one demanding payment from another man's pocket?
That makes two of us.
Chris already covered this topic a long time ago

This is so easy. Any money you earn without using a single public utility or service or any other utility or service which is subsidized, established or in cooperation with the government is money you can keep without any taxation whatsoever.
Of course, we'll be expecting you to give up all your rights to the protections and social services that go along with the taxes you don't have to pay.
Not sure where you're gonna build the corporate headquarters or get electricity from, but I don't think anyone in this country will try and stop you from keeping money you earn without any relationship to the society we call as America.
See. Wasn't that simple? Let us know how it works out.
Does any Christian conservative ever stand up at church and yell at the Priest/Pastor/Reverend about the hing expectations being too high? About survival of the fittest? About maximizing profits being of central importance and caveat emptor?
Jesus of Nazareth was way more of a bleeding heart liberal than FDR could ever dream of being.
Obama is far to the right of Jesus...
i honestly think nothing will happen to him. yes there will be plots to kill him, but i think he will not get shot. i think if someone really wanted his head, someone would have fired a bullet at him by now.
At it's core yes. In a certain sense. Honestly it's not like you are getting paid, just as an example, 500 bucks and the government is taking back 450 bucks in taxes. It's more like they're taking at most 100 dollars. If they are only taking that small of an amount..the rest is cake.
If you're making 50,000 a year and the government takes 2 or 3 grand....what the is that? That's nothing. Likewise if you're making 5 million and they take away a million...what is that? What person can't live with 4 million dollars? I could live the rest of my life with 4 million.
I do.
How wonderfully surreal.
Not quite as surreal as say, giant chicken outfits, but hey, they are idiots with a certain panache. Elan even...
Hey just write them a extra check if you are so eager to pay them
taxes. They will be happy to accept it.
Dummy
Jesus was a bleeding heart . . . in his personal and religious life. Jesus was teaching about how we should treat one another and about how we can be saved. But Jesus also taught that Christians should respect the distinction between personal belief and public life: "Render unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s, and unto God the things that are God’s." (Christianity never seems to get the credit it deserves for providing scriptural support for separation of church and state, but I digress . . .)
I wouldn't be so sure that Obama is to the right of Jesus on political matters. It's a little presumptuous, and I think unproductive, to speculate on the political beliefs of Jesus. For instance, I think it's clear that Jesus commands believers to be charitable, but that's not the same as commanding government to be charitable.
I know this wasn't totally on point, but the Jesus reference made me think a little, you know.
Actually, according to our resident fundamental christian, the meaning of what you just quoted jesus saying is that god instructed his followers to pay taxes.
Nothing more and nothing else.
Hmmm. OK, then: "My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would have been fighting, that I might not be delivered over to the Jews. But my kingdom is not from the world."
Taken together . . . ah forget it. I believe the Bible establishes the separation of church and state.
Hey, I actually disagree more with the resident Christian fundamentalist than I disagree with you. So it's all good.![]()
