Mavs will be better than most people think.

I can guarantee you he won't be doing THAT dumb again.![]()

Not me. Kobe owns the Mavs. Always has.
Findog, I am with you. It is the same players but different coach. So they will win a few more games from last year. Big deal. They will lose again in the playoffs because this team is shot. Mentally they are damaged and will not recover from the last several years. We should have replaced some or most of the core. We did nothing so don't expect anything. Our window is shut.
The le of this thread is just comedic genius
or just sadly ironic for mavfan
I do what I can. You can either laugh or cry if you're a Mavs fan. I've done plenty of both.
Actually, I honestly don't know what to make of them this year. There's no way they're better than the Lakers, Hornets or Jazz. I think the Hornets could slip a little this year, they won't be sneaking up or surprising people this year. Not as dramatic a fallback as the Sonics from 05 to 06, I think they'll still be a 50+ win team, but I'm not sold on them as a championship-level team yet. That said, I think if everything breaks our way, we could end up with a top four seed. No injuries, Gerald Green plays in the regular season the way he did in the preseason, Antoine Wright continues to play like a rich man's Adrian Griffin, Josh returns to form, Kidd is utilized better than he was under Avery, this team could bounce back to around fourth in the West.
On the flip side, the West is just brutal. They could be better and yet not improve on the seventh seed from last year. And if they get off to a slow start and look to be treading water, Cuban could finally blow the team up.
I think best-case scenario is this team gets off to a good start and they get somebody good in a salary dump right before the trading deadline. I think we're one good player away, and in a dream world, we get that player to compete with LA, Utah and New Orleans.
In honesty, no doubt ... but as tough as the West is, anyone who can get say a Gerald Wallace from teams 1-7 is suddenly a contender.
Which is why it's kind of stupid to predict who is going to win the Finals right now. Who had the Lakers going to the Finals at this time last year? The Gasol trade changed everything.
If there's no major injuries or substantial player movement, I'd say Lakers over Cavs. But that's a ways off.
Trade Mark Cuban to the WWF, he'd make a kick ass manager there.
this team very eerily like the Eagles.
before the past 10 years we were irrelevant except for one season where we made it far kind of like that year where the Eagles went to a superbowl a long time ago. We've been a consistently tough team every year, we beat up on the bad teams giving the fans a false sense of hope, and then find a humiliating way to blow it in the end, and our fans look like classless bags in the process
I'm surprisingly optimistic about the upcoming season. Even though the GM ed around all offseason and didn't do to help the team, I think I'm enjoying some of that Rick Carlisle Kool-Aid.
I see 55-60 wins and maybe even a trip to the WCF. And maybe more.
Phil Jackson's boyfriend also thinks the Mavs are a darkhorse:
http://msn.foxsports.com/nba/story/8...0813162&ATT=73
He gives the Mavs, along with the Hornets, Rockets, Spurs and Jazz, a shot at dethroning the Lakers as Western Conference Champs.Long shot: The Dallas Mavericks, but only if Jason Kidd can recapture the rapture and guys like Dirk Nowitzki, Josh Howard and Jason Terry can convince the Wizard of Oz to do for them what he did for the Tin Man.
Thank God you're back.
say whaaaa?
61 wins, 2nd in the SW, NBA champs.
let's do this. espn, the haters, the media.
We are so under the radar this season, I think that will help come playoff time. No pressure.
I remember this shot in 2004....

We'll start with the Rockets beatdown of the Mavs lol
We were on top before the Gasol trade.
Also:
3) To mount a serious challenge to Boston, the Detroit Pistons need a return to greatness by Chauncey Billups, anything from Antonio McDyess, some stalwart defense from Kwame Brown, a few jump shots from Jason Maxiell and the continued development of Rodney Stuckey. Above all else, the Pistons can only supplant the Celtics if Rasheed Wallace decides to bust his butt in every minute of every game.![]()
wth it was just one game?
You guys looked smooth and of a lot more polished than last yr
No need to take anything SD says seriously, 55' Lakers. I think he is Leonard's troll. They always seem to post right after each other. In the SD 2008-2009 Predictions thread, they posted in the same minute.
Carlisle is already equaling Avery's stupidity....small ball and stackouse![]()
LOL, sure didn't take you long to change your mind.
At least JJ Barea didn't see any minutes...
